Work Text:
Harry loves Draco. It all started when they were in sixth year. Harry felt attracted to Draco. Harry initially wanted to catch Draco for being a death eater. But he found his eyes kept searching for that specific blond hair beauty. Draco looked truly alluring, with his hair didn't slick back. Harry finally came to terms with having a crush on Malfoy, only for him to break it by proving he's indeed a death eater.
Harry wanted to forget his stupid crush on Malfoy. But it only grows wilder when he's on the run. Malfoy saving him on the manor didn't help him at all, from forgetting about his crush. And being back in eighth year Harry started to fall in love with the blond hair.
Everyone knows about him being head over heels for Malfoy. Everyone. Except Malfoy. The whole Gryffindor wanted him to be with Malfoy. Some even pushed him to declare his love for the boy. But Harry is scared of rejection. Being in unrequited love, he can manage. But him getting rejected by the love of his life? No, he can't face that. After all, he and Draco have started to be friends now. He doesn't want to lose him as a friend, either.
Harry always pairs up with Draco, whenever they are in the same class. He doesn't know if Draco likes to pair up with him or not. Draco doesn't push him away, so that's a good thing for him, now.
Harry followed Draco to the dungeons. They were working on their potion assignment. They agreed to meet in the library. But Draco forgot his parchment in the dungeons. So he excused himself to retrieve it, and Harry followed him, claiming he would be bored when he was alone. Draco didn't reject him, so Harry happily followed him.
A few Slytherins eyed Harry suspiciously, and a few of them waved at him. Harry waved back and ran after Draco.
The dungeons are cold. Draco dorm was decorated in green and black. Harry walked in silently, admiring his room. There were three beds in the room. Draco walked to the middle one. Harry kept looking at everything in the room. His eyes stopped when he found a jar in the corner. He walked towards it.
“Whose is this?” Harry asked, pointing to the jar.
Draco paused his search and turned towards Harry. “Theo's,” Draco answered, and he resumed his search.
“Hello there,” Harry said to the snake in the jar.
Draco jumped in fear. “Merlin, Harry! Inform me before you do something like that,” He placed his hands above his heart. “I forgot he is parselmouth,” Draco mouthed under his breath. Harry grinned when he heard it.
“Sorry,” Harry said, without meaning it, and turned to the snake.
“You can speak to us!” The snake asked, unbelieving.
“Yes, I can. What's your name?” Harry asked.
“My human calls me Wiggles,” the snake hissed.
Harry laughed out loud. Draco watched him blinkingly.
“You guys named it Wiggles?" Harry asked, amused. Draco shrugged.
“Theo named it,” Harry shook his head and turned back to the snake. Draco turned to resume his search. His assignment is nowhere to be found. He searched everywhere. He walked to Blaise's table to search for it.
“My name is Harry. Harry Potter,” Harry introduced himself.
“You're the Potter boy?” Harry blinked dumbly, when the snake asked him. Does it really know him? How?
“Yes? Do you know me?” Harry asked.
“Yes, that boy has kept on talking about you since I came here,” The snake hissed in reply.
Harry stared at it blankly. He turned to watch Draco when the snake mentioned him. Did Draco really talk about him?
“Uhm, Draco, how long has the snake been here?” Harry asked.
Draco stopped halfway through searching Blaise's things. “Since the 2nd year, I think. Why?” Harry didn't reply to him. He turned to the snake. He was talking about him to the snake since the 2nd year?!
“What did he say about me?” Harry asked curiously.
“He always says stupid Potter. Stupid green eyes. Stupid hair,” Harry stared at it silently. ‘Draco noticed my eyes?’
“He once tried to talk to me, after you talked to one of my own,” Harry laughed out loud. Did Draco really try to talk to a snake after he did that? That sounds like him. He would definitely have tried that. Draco paused his search, furrowing his eyebrows.
“What the hell are you talking about with it?” Draco asked.
“It's nothing,” Harry waved his hand in dismissal and turned to the snake.
“Tell me more,” he hissed.
“That boy talked to me for hours about you. He says how stupid you look, how you smell, how dumb you are, and how he loves you even though you're stupid, famous Potter,” Harry choked on the air. Love? Did he hear it correctly?
“Love?” Harry muttered, not knowing whether to trust it or not.
“Yes, that's what he said. He cried when he talked about how he was going to betray you. He showed me his hand. I saw a picture like my own in his hand.” Harry was sad when he heard that. Yes, Draco did betray him. Even though they were not friends at that time, Harry felt he was betrayed. That's past now. He doesn't have to dwell on it anymore.
“Then, what did you hear?” Harry asked.
“I heard a mating sound along with your name from him during the night,” the snake said.
Harry frowned. Mating sound? Mating soun- oh! He turned to watch Draco. He felt his blood rush to his cheeks. ‘Does Draco think of me while tou- No! Don't think about it, Harry!’
“Found it!” Harry turned when he heard Draco's voice.
“That Blasie idiot took my assignment. Shall we go, Harry?” He asked him. Harry felt himself blushing more, while Draco was talking to him.
“I need to go. I forgot something,” Harry said, fleeing from Draco's room. Draco stood there, watching him walk away, dumbly.
Harry rushed to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. To hide from everyone. He doesn't want anyone to see his blushing face. He locked the door. He splashed the water on his face, trying to control his blush. He slumped down on the cold floor, resting his back against the sink.
“Harry!” A voice creaked, making Harry jump in fear. He tried to calm his heart once he saw who it was.
“Myrtle, hello,” Harry greeted her.
“Came here to see me?” She asked, batting her eyelashes.
“Uhm, maybe?” Harry lied. “Okay. I'm not. I actually came here to hide,” Harry said after feeling bad when he saw her happy face.
“Oh,” she said, sadly. “Hide from who?” she asked.
“From everyone. Especially from Draco,” Harry said the last bit to himself. But too late, Myrtle flew towards him and heard it too.
“From Malfoy boy? Why? Did he hurt you? No, he wouldn't do that,” she said. Harry frowned at her.
“What do you mean?” He asked, confused.
“He loves you. He won't do anything to hurt you,” she said. Harry widened his eyes. The snake said the same thing, but Harry was not sure whether to trust it or not. But her saying the same thing makes him rethink his decision.
“Why did you say that?” He asked.
“He said to me, When he was crying here, he said he didn't want to do this. He said you would hate him more. He said he loves you. He said, Even though you hate him, he can't help but fall in love with you,” Harry sat silently. Hearing everything. Draco loves him. From sixth year, or maybe even before that. A little spark of hope bloomed in Harry's heart. Maybe, maybe he would have a chance with Draco.
“I should go. I will see you soon,” Harry said, fleeing from the bathroom. He went to his dorm and locked himself in. His thoughts kept wandering to the blond boy, wanting to ask him out.
Harry forgot to go to dinner. He kept weighing his options about whether it was good or not to ask Draco out. When he looked at the sky, it was already dark. Harry casted a tempus to find out it was already midnight. He tried to go to sleep. But he can't. So he decided to take a walk around the castle.
Harry walked out of the common room. He checked the corridor to see whether there was anyone. When he found no one, he turned into his animagus form. Yes, he's an animagus. Harry's animagus is a cat. He was an orange cat, with white steaks.
He walked around the castle, until he bumped into something. He looked at who he bumped into, only to find it was another orange cat. Crookshanks. Hermione's cat.
“What are you doing here?” Harry asked Crookshanks.
“Getting food,” the cat replied.
“From where?” Harry asked.
“Follow me. There's one boy who offers food to me at night. He kept talking about someone. Just ignore it,” the cat said. Harry followed it.
There sat the boy, the one and only Draco Malfoy. Draco sat on a ledge. The moon hit the blond hair, making it look like silver. Both the cats, Harry and the original cat crookshanks, walked towards him.
“Hey, got a friend today?” Draco said and lifted crookshanks from the ground. He started to rub behind its ears, making it purr in response. Harry wanted him to do that to him.
Draco heard his mind's voice somehow. He lifted him and placed him beside him on the ledge, rubbing behind his ears. Harry purred, satisfied.
Draco opened a pouch, took some cat food from it, and offered it to Crookshanks. It started to munch happily. Draco offered some to him, which Harry refused by turning his head.
“You don't want some?” He asked Harry meowed in response, which made Draco's eyes widen.
He continued to feed crookshanks, which ate happily. That made Harry jealous. How can that cat get all the attention, when he doesn't. He was annoyed. He started to rub his head against Draco's knee to get his attention. Which he successfully got.
“Harry came to my dorm today,” Draco said to Crookshanks.
“Here we go. He talks about that boy nonstop. Don't listen,” Crookshanks said to Harry, who blinked.
Draco talks about him to Crookshanks? First the snake, next the ghost, and now a cat! Draco talks about him to everyone, it seems, except himself.
“He was talking to the snake. He was hot, you know, while talking in parselmouth,” Draco ruffled Harry's fur. Making him purr in happiness from both ruffling and hearing him talk about him.
“He left hurriedly without giving any proper explanation. He didn't even come to the great hall. Did I do something wrong?” Draco frowned.
“I'm leaving. Hear this for the rest of the night,” Crookshanks said, jumping from Draco's lap.
“Oh, you're leaving already?” Draco asked. Crookshanks walked away. Harry places his head on Draco's knee, letting him know he is still here. Draco turned to him and smiled.
“At least you're staying. I'm glad,” he said. Started to play with his fur. They were silent for a few minutes.
“Do you know Harry? Harry Potter? He's the one I love,” Draco said to Harry. Harry's heart skipped a beat. He heard Draco love him from three different ones, and one being Draco himself. Harry couldn't be any more happier.
“I have loved him since the fourth year,” Draco has loved him that long! Harry wanted to jump up and down in happiness.
"I fucked so many things that will last for a lifetime. And one being bullying Harry. I feel ashamed for ever doing that. He won't love me back. I have to spend my life thinking about my unrequited love,” Draco said sadly.
"Meow,” Harry meowed furiously, which translates, ‘I love you, idiot. It's not unrequited love,’
“What are you saying? Are you agreeing with me?” Draco asked.
“Meow,” ‘No!’
“Should I forget him?” Draco asked.
“Meow,” ‘Don’t you dare,’ Harry scratched Draco's legs.
“Ow, are you saying I shouldn't?” Draco asked, smoothing his pain.
“Meow,” ‘Yes,’
“Should I ask him out?” Draco asked.
“Meow,” ‘Yes! Just do it!’ Harry stood from the ledge. Controlling himself from jumping up and down.
“What if he rejects me?” Draco asked, pouting.
Harry had enough. He jumped into Draco's lap. “Just ask him out!” Harry shouted. What he didn't notice was that he was not in his animagus form anymore. He turned to his human form. He didn't even notice it until he heard Draco's voice.
“Harry?” He said looking bewildered.
“Oh,” Harry said, looking down at his human form. “Just ask me out,” he said, grinning. Draco blinked, trying to process what he said. Then it hit him.
“Do you want to go out with me?” Draco asked, puzzled. He can't believe Harry said that.
“Yes,” Harry replied simply.
“Why?” Draco asked.
“Because I love you,” Harry answered. Draco shook his head in disbelief.
“Don't play with me, Harry. Don't hurt me like this-” Harry cut Draco off by smashing his lips against him, shutting him off.
“I love you. I have loved you, for some time now. I know I'm stupid. But I can't help it. I want to go out with you. What do you say?” Harry asked after breaking the kiss. Draco blinks some more. Harry kissed him. His love of life kissed him. Bloody hell!
“Yes! Harry, do you want to go out with me?” Draco asked immediately. Harry grinned and nodded.
“Yes,” Harry accepted. Draco smiled and kissed the back of Harry's hand. Suddenly, a question hit him.
“Why did you run from my room?” Draco asked. Harry blushed bright red.
“I- I- the snake said something,” he confessed.
“What did it say?” Draco asked.
“How you make a mating sound while saying my name,” Harry blushed, turning his face away.
“Mating soun-” Draco's eyes widened in realisation. “ I did not,” he denied immediately. Harry laughed loudly. “ The snake is lying,” he claimed.
“Is it? The snake said, You love me, is that also a lie?” Harry asked, smirking. “Not only a snake, a ghost, even the cat confessed you love me. Were they lying?” Harry challenged.
Draco avoided his eyes, feeling himself blushing. Harry smirked proudly. “That proves I'm right. Now let's check the moaning theory. Shall we?” Harry asked, leaning closer to Draco. Draco felt his cheeks heat up more.
“Harry,” Draco mumbled when Harry's lips were just centimetres away from his own. Harry hummed in response.
“Maybe the snake isn't lying,” Draco said before smashing his lips against Harry. Harry felt proud when he elicited a moan from the Slytherin.
