“I’m going to die here…” Shikamaru thinks as the enemy’s whip coils in the dim light. Choji’s fragile ribs press against him, Ino’s warmth slipping away, and all around—their friends—breaking. Sasuke, Sakura, Naruto, Lee, Hinata, Neji, Tenten, Shino, Kiba… one by one, crumbling. Broken. Bleeding. Silent.
We are all going to die here.
What should have been an easy C-rank mission twists into a nightmare that devours the Konoha 12, suffering fates that are far more terrible than death. When 4 weeks of no communication come and go, and one night, a familiar white dog turns up with a torn up sleeve, bloodied and obviously a cry for help.
The parents have to turn to each other, the sensei's turn to each other, and they know. They will get their children back.
But more questions arise: Where are they? What is happening in this town? Why do they act like their children never existed?
How far can human cruelty grow? When does one become a monster? When does one become judge, jury, and executioner? When does one's morality cease to exist?
None of that matters. Because all they want is their kids, and they'll do anything to get them back.

Naruto's love language is food, because that's what Teuchi and Iruka-sensei taught her. Shikamaru's just too caught up in his own head to realise.

Across the barrier came sounds that shouldn’t be as loud as they appeared – more sloshing as Naruto moved, the wet slide of hair being wrung out, a bitten-off gasp when her elbow struck wood, the rustling of fabrics as she grabbed the robes again.
