Pearl registers a small ding of successful transfer - a happy, chipper sound that is completely at odds with the sudden pained noise Etho makes, like he’s been punched in the gut.
“You alright, mate?” Pearl asks.
She swipes the chat away to find him staring at her intensely, hands fisted at his sides. As she watches, he stretches his fingers out, pulls them back in.
