“What?” He says irritated, turning his head to look at him and cracking an eye open to try and glare at Bruce.
“I love you.”
Joker scrambles out of the bed, suddenly looking so angry that Bruce has no idea what’s happening or what to do.
“Baby? What’s- ”
“What’s that supposed to mean? What the fuck is I love you supposed to mean? Are we in a fight?”
“Joker, Joker, look at me, LOOK at me,” Bruce snaps and his voice gets that little extra bit of gravel he adds when he’s Batman, practically forcing Joker to focus his eyes, “It means I love you. That’s it.”
“But- but I hate you is our I love you.”
