Work Text:

Did Sasuke ever think he'd look so foolish standing in front of someone's door, afraid to knock? If someone had told him this a few years ago, he'd either suggest they get their brain checked by the Yamanaka or he'd have incinerated that idiot with Katon. But alas, here he is, standing in front of Shisui-damn-Uchiha's door and unable to knock on the blasted thing.

Valentine's Day, a day of frenzy in Konoha. A day when kunoichi and girls from all over the village buy up chocolates or make them themselves for their loved ones.

If you were to ask Sasuke what he thinks of this holiday, he'd say it's incredibly annoying because of all the village's fuss. But this time, everything went haywire, and he himself stood in the kitchen from the early hours to make damn chocolate.

He had to wake up before sunrise and use all his ninja skills to stay unnoticed by his family members.

Honestly, although it was troublesome, he quickly dealt with it. The hardest part was finding the right gift wrap. But he managed it, all for one person.

Shisui Uchiha, one of the strongest members of the clan and someone who is highly respected and in demand both within the clan and in Konoha.

Sasuke definitely remembers the day of their first meeting. As usual, he was waiting for his ni-san's return from the academy to train together or spend time with him. That day, he came not alone, but with him. He was different from the other clan members: he was smiling, unafraid to show his emotions, kind, and warm as the sun. And since his ni-san started to drift away from him, Shisui was the only one he could rely on. He never refused Sasuke in training, always smiled at him, and was there for him. For him, Sasuke happily accepted candies, even though he didn't like sweets.

Back then, he didn't suspect what feeling overwhelmed him. Only later did he realize that he was hopelessly in love with his cousin.

Well, Sasuke slowly approaches the door, his heart pounding so hard as if he had been training for over 6 hours without rest. With closed eyes, he takes one last breath before deciding to knock. His hand trembles as he finally taps on the door. The door opens slowly, and his breath freezes in anticipation of the inevitable, as there is no turning back now.

When the door finally swings open, Sasuke quickly hides his gift behind his back and puts on a mask of calmness and indifference to hide his uncertainty. He lifts his gaze and looks at the person who has occupied all his thoughts for a long time.

"Hey, Sasuke, didn't expect to see you here today," Shisui replied, his eyes attentively watching him and his hands behind his back with a slight curiosity and a smile on his lips. "Is something up?"

Sasuke swallowed the lump in his throat and sighed, feeling the words getting stuck in his throat. "Um, it's a bit hard to say..."

He watched as the smile slowly faded from his lips, and his eyes became more serious. "Is it something serious?"

"No, yes... haha," Sasuke started, his words sounding uncertain, but he tried to remain calm; after all, he was an Uchiha, not a clueless idiot. "I... Shisui, I've been thinking about this for a long time, and I've realized that I can't hide my feelings anymore." Sasuke quickly extended his hands forward and tilted his head to avoid looking him in the eyes. "Shisui, this is not an easy confession for me, but I've been thinking about it for a long time. I respect and appreciate you more than I could express in words." As he uttered these words, he held his breath, awaiting his fate. Today, either he would receive reciprocation in his feelings, or he would never be able to look him in the eyes again and find excuses to stay away from him.

Shisui, slightly surprised and a bit embarrassed, remains silent for a moment, weighing his words. His eyes pierce through Sasuke, and then he slowly smiles.

"Sasuke, this is unexpected, but I appreciate your honesty. You've always been an important person to me, and I'm grateful that you've shared your feelings. But I think we need to discuss this thoroughly and figure out the best way forward." And before Sasuke could come up with all sorts of excuses and leave abruptly, Shisui quickly takes the gift from his hands and leads him into the house, closing the door behind them.

"Haha, I knew it was a silly idea..." muttered Sasuke, clenching his fists and trying to break free from the older man's grasp.

"Listen, Sasuke, your feelings are not something I would condemn; it's just quite unexpected for me," Shisui said, slowly sighing and firmly gripping Sasuke's shoulders to prevent him from escaping. "As I said, we shouldn't rush things, but at least start with getting to know each other better."

Releasing his shoulders, he picked up the gift left on the table and grabbed Sasuke's hand, leading him further into the house. "Come on in, Sasuke, I think we need to talk about many things now."

As they entered the kitchen, Sasuke decided that sitting down would be the best decision. Meanwhile, Shisui walked to the stove to brew tea for both of them.

When the tea was poured, he sat across from Sasuke, clasping his hands on the table and looking at him with calm, warm eyes. "So, Sasuke, how long have you been in love with me?"

Caught off guard by this question, Sasuke, sipping his tea to prolong the moment of their revelations as much as possible, almost choked on it. "Haha, what?"

Pointing at the box of chocolates lying nearby, he continued, "Your feelings, they definitely couldn't have formed overnight. And so, I want to know how far you want to go."

Listening to his heart pounding in his chest, Sasuke tried to calm himself and say something, but he chose to remain silent.

With a heavy sigh and realizing that he wouldn't hear anything, Shisui stood up from his seat and called out to Sasuke, "Let's go, Sasuke, I think a walk would be very fitting for the first time."

"What?" Sasuke asked, staring blankly at the older man.

"Weren't you the one confessing your love to me today? Chocolate, you brought it to me today, on Valentine's Day," Shisui said cheerfully, leading Sasuke to the doorway and guiding them towards the market. "Since we're together now, I thought it would be nice for our first date to be a walk in the fresh air. I think we need to remember this moment well to strengthen our relationship in the future. But for now, let's enjoy this day together."

Looking at their intertwined hands, Sasuke thought for the first time in his life that he made a good decision with this silly idea. After all, now he wouldn't be alone but with someone who accepted him and his feelings. And this day would become one of the best in his life.

I would be pleased if you would leave a review of the work. This is a good motivation for writing another paper.
