From Doggy Daycare To Dates

Summary:

“Wait, I can just come with you,” Momo realized, making a move to get off the couch. “NO!” Sana screamed, pausing her friend in her tracks.

“Okay what the hell is going on!” Momo asked frustratingly. “I’m meeting my future wife at that park, so you better sit your happy ass down and keep watching TV or else you won’t be a bridesmaid,” Sana demanded, not even giving Momo a chance to get in a word before she was out the door with the dogs.

Or

Sana picks up Momo's dogs from doggy daycare and runs into Dahyun. She goes back each day trying to catch her again.

Work Text:

“Pretty please, I’m so swamped with clients today,” Momo begged, her cell phone tucked between her ear and shoulder as she filled out a document. “Of course I’ll do it, you know how much I love Boo and Dobby,” Sana agreed instantly, already standing up from her couch to grab a jacket and the extra leashes she kept for moments like this.

“Thank you so much,” the older girl sighed gratefully, relaxing a little in her office chair. “No problem. How’s Nayeon doing? Is she still coming back next week?” she wondered, snatching her keys before making her way to the front door of her apartment. “She’s fine. Stressed, but fine. She said she might be able to come home a day early if she can close off the deal with the Lee’s tomorrow.”

“That’s cool. Hopefully everything works out. You’ve been unbearable without her,” Sana teased, making her way down the stairs after locking the door. Momo scoffed, “You say I’m unbearable with her.” “Well if you two would just learn to keep your hands to yourself, I wouldn’t want to chuck myself off a building every time we hang out.”

“You're literally the most touchy person I know Sana,” Momo lightheartedly rolled her eyes. “And come on, it’s Nayeon, have you seen her?” The older girl smiled at the thought of her wife. “Way too much of her,” Sana shivered. “That was one time!” “One time too many, I’m scarred for life,” she took off walking down the sidewalk to the doggy daycare.

Shuffling noises came from the other side of the line before Momo piped up again. “Hey, my client should be here pretty soon so I’m gonna get off to finish this, okay? Thank you so, so much. Love you!” “Love you too, bye,” she hung up.

Fifteen minutes later, Sana found herself grinning when a little energetic fluff ball met her at the entrance of the building. In excitement, the little white dog started jumping at her legs.

“Ari!” She heard a girl say, but was already in the process of crouching down to pet the cute pup. “I’m sorry, he gets excited meeting new people. I was trying to hook him up to his leash when you came in,” the girl apologized. With a radiant smile, Sana was ready to tell her that it was more than alright, but the second she looked up, she froze.

Woah.

To say this girl was beautiful was an understatement.

She wore a dark brown button up, long sleeve shirt with light blue jeans that gave off a calm, inviting vibe. Her long, silky black hair flowed down past her shoulders with a few pieces falling in front of her face as she bent down to pick up Ari.

“It’s fine,” she managed to get out, her eyes still scanning over the girl's face. Sweetly, the other girl shot her a smile after hooking on the dog's leash and then she was gone.

Sana stared at the now closed front door dejectedly. She didn’t even get the chance to ask her name. Normally she would’ve been flirting it up the second she spotted someone she was even remotely interested in, but the girl blindsided her out of nowhere, leaving her speechless.

With a small frown pulling at the corners of her lips, she stood and trudged forward to find her two nephews. “Hi, I’m here to pick up Boo and Dobby,” Sana greeted the lady at the front desk. “You can go ahead and go back, they’re outside with the other dogs at the moment.”

At that, Sana continued on, greeting a couple workers along the way before spotting the two dogs running laps around a barking Chihuahua. “Boo! Dobby!” she yelled in a baby voice to get their attention. Immediately, their heads whipped her direction and they sprinted to greet her.

“Momo was busy, so you're stuck with me,” Sana told them, acting as if they could actually understand a word of what she said. A smile overpowered the frown she previously wore when they started doing happy tip-taps on the floor.

“Who’s Auntie Sana’s favorites?” she cooed, rubbing Dobby between the ears and Boo on his stomach.

===

“I can get them,” Sana said the next day, already making a move to get up. “You don’t have to, I should be able to make it,” Momo tried to deny her, but she was nothing if not persistent. “No way! You’ve been slammed the last few days, let me get them for you. In fact, don’t you have some meetings booked up for the rest of the week?” she rushed out, quickly pushed her sweatpants down.

“Yeah?” Momo’s brows furrowed in confusion at how over eager her friend was to pick up her sons. “Great, I can get them for you then!” She nearly tripped over her own feet running to the closet. “What’s going on?” Sana scoffed into the phone, “Nothings going on, I just wanna see my nephews.”

“You're way too excited.”

“Am not,” she argued, hiking up the best pair of jeans she owned that accentuated her best assets. “Are so.” Sana sighed, “Momo just let me pick them up.” “You're so weird, fine,” her friend conceded because honestly, it really would be a big help and give her more time to catch up on everything in the office.

“Sweet! Text me when you're swinging by to get them later,” the younger girl rushed out, instantly clicking the end button before she could go back on her words. Rummaging through her clothing, she found the cute light pink sweater her friend Mina knitted for her and tugged it on.

Yesterday she spent the whole night thinking about the mystery girl that she missed her chance with. She wasn’t sure what it was about her, but something was drawing her in and she badly wanted to see the girl again. At the very least she wanted to know her name, but at the most she wanted to get her number. Sana was prepared this time around, so she should be able to turn on her usual charms.

Checking the clock, she realized she only had ten minutes if she wanted to get there at the same time she did the day before. That would be her best chance at catching the girl when she was picking Ari up. In a panic, she flew outside, running as fast as she could down the street.

By the time the building came into view, Sana was panting from overexertion. She had never been much of an athlete and it was showing right now. Just slowing down enough to not slam into the door, she tried to reach for the handle. The door, however, decided it wanted to slam into her.

She let out a high pitched shriek in surprise right as it whammed into her forehead, causing her to fall to the ground. “Oh god!” the mystery girl said, much to her horror. Wow, couldn’t she get a break?

“Are you okay? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hit you,” she apologized in the same moment that Ari tugged on the leash to say ‘hi’ to the new friend that was on the ground. “It’s okay,” Sana groaned, rubbing her forehead, but a small chuckle fell out only seconds later when a tiny lick was placed on the tip of her nose. “Ari,” she reprimanded, scooping the dog up in one arm while holding her free hand out to help Sana up.

“Well, I’ve met you twice and had to apologize each time. I don’t think I’ve got a great first impression going for me,” the girl joked after Sana was brought to her feet. “Maybe we could go for a third? I’m Sana,” she dusted off the back of her pants. “Dahyun,” the girl, Dahyun, sent her a warm smile.

Getting a good look at Dahyun, Sana was even more intrigued with her. Apparently today, she had opted for a more comfy casual look and Sana was grasping at straws trying to figure out how she looked even better than yesterday when she was merely in a hoodie and sweats.

Noticing Sana staring at her, Dahyun looked down at her clothes, pulling the fabric a little between two of her fingers. “Sorry I look horrible. I was running late this morning, I just kinda threw this on and ran.” Her cheeks tinted red from slight embarrassment. Sana vigorously shook her head at that.

Great, Dahyun thought she was staring because she looked bad. What was even happening?

“No! I wasn’t- I really like your hoodie, it’s nice,” Sana’s words spilled out, trying to get her goddamn flirting rhythm back. “Oh, thank you. I’ve had it forever.” “I like your dog too, he’s really sweet,” she added, drawing a toothy grin from the other girl.

“Thanks. He’s an attention hog, wants all the pets and kisses from everyone,” Dahyun affectionately rolled her eyes at the happy little dog that was looking at Sana with big eyes, as if to say ‘you know you wanna pet me’ and Sana very much did. “Can I?” she asked, nodding in the pup's direction.

“I think he would be offended if you didn’t.”

“What’s your dog's name?” Dahyun asked while Sana ran her palm over Ari’s head. “Huh?” She wondered, brows furrowed in confusion. “Well, we’re at a doggy daycare, I figured you were here to get your dog. I was wondering if I knew which one it was. Please tell me it’s not Peanut, the ankle biting Chihuahua.” Sana let out a laugh, “Oh, no it’s not Peanut, I’m here for Boo and Dobby. Have you met them?”

“Oh yeah, they jump on me every time I go in there. So, I guess that makes us even with the whole Ari thing. Now all that’s left for you to do is smack me in the face with a door,” Dahyun humorously shimmied her eyebrows, gaining yet another giggle from Sana.

A ding from Dahyun’s phone broke them from their little bubble.

After pulling it out to check her messages, the girl let out a sigh. “I kinda have to go, but it was nice meeting you Sana. Maybe I’ll run into you again tomorrow?” Instantly, Sana nodded, “I’ll be careful around the door just in case.” It was Dahyun’s turn to chuckle this time as she walked away, but not before sending a small wave Sana’s way.

“Oh, you bet your ass you're running into me tomorrow,” she muttered to herself, pulling at the door handle to get the dogs.

===

The third time was the charm in Sana’s case. She was dressed up in a cute outfit and already at the doggy daycare ten minutes early. Today would be the day she got Dahyun’s number, it had to be, because the weekend started tomorrow which meant Boo and Dobby would be at home with Momo.

Once in the fenced in playing area, she was greeted by a number of dogs, one of them being Ari. “Cute puppy for a cute girl, huh?” she said, scratching a place just behind the Maleteses ear. Boo and Dobby circled around to get their love and affection from her free hand.

She spent about three minutes doing this before a voice piped up behind her. “Our kids are friends, I guess that means we should be too?” Sana grinned at the voice and whipped her head around to find her crush looking as gorgeous as ever. “Well see, there lies the dilemma. I have all my friends' numbers, but I don’t have yours yet,” she fluttered her eyes at the other girl, hoping the red tips of her ears weren’t just from the cold air.

“I guess we should change that then?” Dahyun’s eyes crinkled from her smile. Fishing her phone out of her pocket, she presented it to Sana. And plucking it out of her hand happily, Sana typed in her contact information, making sure to add a little purple heart to subtly give Dahyun a push in the right direction. While she did this, the girl bent down to pet the pups circling her, including Boo and Dobby.

“Do you come here after work?” Sana wondered, handing the phone back over. “I do. I own the music shop over on fifth street, Don’t Fret. You ever been there?” Sana chuckled, “No, but bravo on the name.” “Why thank you, I worked hard on it,” Dahyun said proudly.

The girl made a show of scanning the room quickly before moving forward, using her hand to half cover her mouth like she was sharing a secret. “It was almost called Cello There, but we don’t talk about those dark times,” she whispered playfully. That earned her a soft giggle. “At least it would’ve felt welcoming.”

Dahyun raised an eyebrow, “Wow, you make a good point. You think it’s too late to rebrand?” Sana hummed, bringing a hand to her chin in thought. “Well if you're thinking about rebranding, why not go all the way? Call it The French Horn and make all your employees wear big, twirly mustaches.”

Dahyun beamed, “I like how you think…but I’m not sure my employees would.”

“You could give them a free triangle as compensation?”

“Okay, it’s settled, we need to hang out more. I was going to take Ari to the dog park tomorrow, you want to come with Boo and Dobby?” Dahyun wondered, making a move to stand up from the ground after clipping on Ari’s leash.

“Yes, definitely! Text me the time, I’ll be there,” Sana rushed out maybe a little too quickly. Though her body was still, a million butterflies were fluttering in her stomach. Dahyun didn’t seem to care though, all she responded with was, “Great, I’ll see you tomorrow then! Bye Sana.” “Bye,” Sana waved, waiting until she left before squealing quietly to herself.

“Auntie Sana has a doggy date tomorrow,” Sana told Boo and Dobby, bouncing a little on the tips of her toes. As she hooked them onto their leashes, a sudden realization occurred to her.

Dahyun said their kids were getting along.

Damn, she hadn’t even thought to clarify that Boo and Dobby weren’t hers. And to top it all off, they weren’t even going to be with her tomorrow. They would be with Momo.

Well, only one thing to do about that she supposed.

“But it’s the weekend! I wanna see my babies. Why are you kidnapping them?” Momo complained, watching Sana walk her dogs to the door. “You should be happy, I’m taking them to the dog park for you,” Sana argued. “But I want to spend time with them,” she paused. “Wait, I can just come with you,” Momo realized, making a move to get off the couch. “NO!” Sana screamed, pausing her friend in her tracks.

“Okay what the hell is going on!?” her friend asked frustratingly. “I’m meeting my future wife at that park, so you better sit your happy ass down and keep watching TV or else you won’t be a bridesmaid,” Sana demanded, not even giving Momo a chance to get in a word before she was out the door with the dogs.

Dahyun was cute, funny, and sweet. She was going on this thing whether Momo liked it or not. She would just have to bribe her with some food later to make up for dog napping her children.

In no time, the three made it to the dog park. Sana was bouncing excitedly just as much as the pups were, her eyes skimming the park to look for an extremely beautiful girl. When she spotted her all bundled up sitting on a bench, watching Ari play with a poodle a bit further away, she was off.

“This seat taken?” she asked. Dahyun met her eyes, a sweet smile forming on her face when she did so. “It is now.” At that, Sana slid beside her, pulling the dogs along with her so she could unhook them. Immediately, the two floof balls took off running as fast as their little legs could carry them.

“I think I picked the coldest day of the week to do this, sorry,” Dahyun apologized. “It’s fine, just means we need to huddle together for warmth,” she half joked, scooting a couple inches closer to the girl, trying to gauge her reaction. The girl raised an eyebrow, but her smile never left her face. Sana took that as a good sign.

“You know, you asked me about my job, but I never got to hear what you do.”

“How about we play a game? You get three guesses,” she proposed. “And if I lose?” Dahyun wondered. “Then we have to set up another playdate.” Dahyun huffed dramatically, “Geez, that sounds horrible.” Sana playfully elbowed her.

“Okay my first guess is maybe something to do with sales. I feel like you could talk me into buying a house even if all I had was five dollars and a pack of gum,” the shorter girl turned her body a little so she was facing Sana better, prompting her to do the same. “I don’t have to be in sales to do that, I’m very good at getting my way,” Sana said smugly. “Second guess, go!”

Dahyun hummed, her eyes turning up slightly to look at the sky in thought. “Something to do with hair or makeup? You're really pretty. You do yours well, so maybe you do other people too?” Sana’s heart rate spiked at the compliment. “Two down, one to go.”

“Last guess is a baker. I don’t know why, maybe ‘cause you're really nice, but I feel like you would make a good baker,” Dahyun used up her last guess. “I’ll keep that in mind if I ever want to stop teaching,” Sana revealed her actual job.

“Ahhh, yeah, I could see that. Do you teach kindergarteners?” Sana scrunched her eyebrows together. “Yeah, how’d you know?” “I don’t know how to describe it, but you seem like you would be good with little kids. You radiate, like, happiness?” The girl tilted her head, trying to put Sana’s energy into words. Sana smiled at that and at how cute Dahyun currently looked with her head cocked to the side, but that’s besides the point.

“Want to know what you radiate?” she asked, intriguing Dahyun. “Yep! Hit me, but please don’t say cookie monster energy. I get that from my friends way too often,” she jutted out her bottom lip, making Sana internally coo at how absolutely adorable this girl was. “I was going to say calm energy, but now I’m curious about this whole cookie monster thing.”

“Simple, no chocolate can enter my vicinity. I’m the cookie monster's second cousin, twice removed. The chocolate monster,” she revealed, rubbing her hands together for warmth. “Why did you get removed twice?” “I can’t tell you that here, it’s top secret information,” Dahyun let her voice drop down low before letting her eyes flicker over to check on Ari. Noticing this, Sana checked on Boo and Dobby as well, finding Dobby resting under a tree while Boo played tug of war with a Pomeranian.

“You could tell me it somewhere else then,” Sana hinted, drawing Dahyun’s eyes back to her. “I could. Would you want to?” Dahyun gave her a soft smile. “Yes please,” she said a little too eagerly.

“We can go do something after we get done here. Do you think we can talk Momo into babysitting Ari when you return Boo and Dobby?”

Sana’s jaw dropped. “Wait, what? You know Momo?” “Yeah, we’re friends. She didn’t tell you?” Dahyun wondered. “I didn’t tell her about you. But wait, if you knew Boo and Dooby weren’t mine, why did you ask me for a doggy date? Why not just ask Momo?” Sana asked in confusion. “Because I wanted a doggy date with you,” Dahyun rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly at the confession. Her eyes wandered anywhere, but Sana when she whispered out her next words, “I thought you were cute.”

Unable to believe her ears, Sana added, “And what about the ‘our kids are friends’ thing?” “Oh, I was just joking around,” Dahyun waved her off. “Damn, I really kidnapped Momo’s dogs for no reason,” Sana muttered under her breath, but Dahyun caught it, making a giggle fall from her lips. “You kidnapped them?”

“Yeah, I, um, thought you thought they were mine and I wanted to get to know you better so I was just kinda going with it,” Sana admitted, her cheeks tinting a little. Dahyun’s smile reached her eyes and she slowly moved a hand to rest over Sana’s. “Why don’t we drop Boo, Dobby, and Ari all at Momo’s against her will? Then I can take you out on a date tonight and we can get to know each other better?” Dahyun proposed.

Whipping her head violently as she interlaced their fingers, Sana said excitedly, “Yes, please!”

Notes:

A/N: Just a little cute Saida story.

Don't know if anyone here read my bar fic, but if you did, I just wanted to say thank you for all the kudos and comments! And if you haven't read it, but liked this, you might like that one too.

Also, if you did read that, you might remember that I'm new to writing and I just wanted to say: Why's it gotta take so long to write :") I'm working on some other stuff and I have a lot of different ideas, but I swear it takes forever to get everything down...that also might be because I lean towards longer pieces though lol

But anyways, have a good day and thanks for reading! -A.M.
