Chapter Text
Freddy stalked towards his room with a huff. He was a bit tired from today, and the employees didn’t let him catch a break. He was looking forward to crashing in his recharge station and taking a nice snooze, right after he saw Gregory of course.
He knew the boy couldn’t handle being alone. He found out the hard way, especially after he broke down and appeared as though he hadn’t slept in days(which was probably true). Freddy was relieved it was only one day of him being lonely.
The door slid open and he walked in. He didn’t need to scan the room for Gregory, because the boy was in his usual spot: the orange couch. It was his makeshift bed and number one comfiest spot in the plex according to him. He was reading his favorite comic and lying on his stomach, kicking his legs. Gregory seemed to be fine on his own.
“Hello, Superstar,” He greeted warmly. Freddy got the reaction he expected; as always, Gregory’s head shot up in surprise.
“Freddy!” He exclaimed and threw himself into the bear’s arms. Freddy returned it with a smile.
He spun the boy around a few times, getting a good laugh out of him, and set him down.
“How’s my Superstar?” He asked with a happy ear wiggle.
“I’m alright…” Gregory murmured, glancing away and rubbing his arm.
With Freddy’s advanced programming, he instantly recognized this as a usual tick. He unconsciously did it when he was uncomfortable.
“I sense you are distressed,” Freddy said with a tilt of his head. “What is wrong?”
“Nothing. It’s just that…” Gregory took a deep breath, but it shuddered, indicating he was on the verge of tears.
Freddy gave him a few moments before responding. “You do not have to tell me. If you wish to-“
The next thing he knew, he was being thrown off-balance by Gregory hurling himself into Freddy’s chest. He wrapped his arms tight around his torso and began to sob.
“P-Paw Patrol is being canceled!! R-Ryder’s voice actor freakin’ died and I don’t even know what that means!”
Freddy stared at the wall in surprise while the boy blubbered.
“I-I don’t know what to do, Freddy! Paw Patrol was my life and I don’t know if I can go on!!”
“Superstar,” He said weakly. “It is merely a cartoon. I am sure the company will hire a new voice actor.”
“NO!!” Gregory screamed and pounded his fists against Freddy’s lightning bolt. “I-I’M GONNA FREAKING DIE!! I CAN FEEL MY HEART FAILING- FREDDY HELP!!”
Freddy shook his head in dismay. He had seen Gregory watching countless episodes, but he didn’t know his obsession had gone this far.
“Gregory,” He said calmly. “You are not going to die. And I am not aware if you have noticed, but the show is on at this very moment!”
He weakly turned his head and stared at the TV. Sure enough, the catchy intro was playing with the pups in their vehicles.
“Holy shit!” Gregory squealed and plopped down two inches from the screen.
“Language, Gregory,” Freddy muttered but he knew the boy wouldn’t listen.
He watched fondly as Gregory began singing along to the lyrics, happy as can be. He seemed like a totally different kid than the spoiled brat a few seconds ago.
Freddy sighed. Gregory could overreact at the most minuscule things, but everything would turn out okay.
