Melissa was the first one to wake up, she always was. Although she didn’t get up immediately, she was content to just stay there in between the two people she loved. But, she knew she would have to get up sooner or later, Chris and Peter were a nightmare if they didn’t have their morning coffee. So after laying there for five minutes she finally decided to get up. She carefully untwined herself from the other two so she could actually get out of the bed. Once she was finally free she stretched before heading downstairs.
Once she got downstairs she turned on the coffee pot and started to get out what she needed to make them all breakfast. She thought back to when they first got together, she and Chris were together and living by themselves now that Scott was off at college. But they both couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. That was when they started to spend more time with Peter. As they spent more time together they both realized they had grown feelings for the man, and the rest was history.
She made herself a cup of coffee and started to make scrambled eggs for the three of them. She cracked the eggs into a small bowl on mixed them up so the yolks would break before carefully pouring it into the pan. She stood at the stove for a while making their breakfast softly humming to herself before she heard someone coming down the stairs. She smiled to herself as she heard Chris shuffle into the kitchen, hearing him mumble a soft ‘Good morning’ before making himself a cup of coffee.
Chris shuffled over to Melissa, slotting himself behind her so he could give her a kiss on the cheek before moving to stand by the counter, content with watching her while he sipped his coffee. There was a comfortable silence between the two, both content to just be there in the other’s presence.
By the time Melissa was almost done with the eggs they heard more shuffling coming from the stairs, down came Peter looking as tired as ever. He gave a kiss on the cheek to both Chris and Melissa before making himself his own cup of coffee and sitting down at the table.
“You’re just in time sleepyhead, I’m finishing up now, Chris be a dear and get the plates for me please?” Melissa asked kindly as she turned off the stove and set the pan aside on the other side of the stove.
Chris came over with three plates and the salt and pepper and helped Melissa divide the food evenly amongst the three plates before taking the pan over to the sink and putting water on it before placing it back onto the stove.
Chris and Melissa brought the three plates and the salt and pepper over to where Peter was sitting at the table sipping his coffee. He muttered a quiet ‘Thank you’ before putting salt on his eggs. The three of them all sat quietly eating their breakfast in a comfortable silence together, in no hurry to do anything as Peter and Melissa both had work off today.
They planned on staying in to watch movies or TV together, happy to spend the day in each other’s presence. And they did just that, content on just being with each other.
And tomorrow they would spend the morning together before saying goodbye so they could each go to work and they couldn’t wait for the day to be over so they could go home and be with each other after a long day.
