Chapter Text
It all started with one wish. Shadow had died in a massive battle while working for G.U.N. Sonic, grieving, wished that night that he could see Shadow again.
But not like this. He had woken up and checked the date like always.
Weird, it said it was the 14th. His phone must be glitching. Oh well.
He headed for a small local cafe to get some breakfast. As he arrived he saw a sign on the door saying "cerrado" (For all my monolingual readers, that's closed in spanish)
He shrugged, and headed to the boba shop a block away. He bought 2 drinks, one for him and one for Tails, and then went home for some food and maybe a nap.
He opened the door. "Hey Tails I bought some drinks :D"
The fox looked at him, taking a break from welding something.
"Thanks. Could you go buy some more metal? I'm running low and there's a scrapyard a few miles away-"
Sonic didn't hear Tails. He was focused intently on a noise from outside, a low wooshing. Chemical smell wafted inside, although common to smell in Tails' lab, this smell was different, more... chemical-ish.
He scrambled outside, just to see a battalion of military jets. From G.U.N. "Huh?-"
And just at that moment he heard a scream.
"Shadow!?"
Sonic turned to see Shadow standing far away, a large gash across his chest, surrounded by robots. He stood unmoving for a second, until he collapsed, blood pouring from his wound.
And then... darkness.
Sonic heard his alarm beeping.He opened his eyes to see his calendar again. The 14th.
"No... Please no. Please..."
He got up and ran to the cafe.
"Cerrado"
"SHIT"
He ran back home to find Shadow, but saw bloodstains on the grass.
He didn't want to see Shadow die again. He couldn't just stand around and watch, like a deer in the headlights.
He followed the blood trail to a small open field. Shadow lay bleeding out surrounded by lavender flowers, crying.
Sonic ran to his side. Shadow looked at him with a look of... longing.
"Sonic, you look so... beautiful..."
Sonic laughed, sobbing.
"No. Don't die here. Not again-"
Shadow looked at the sky, smiling sadly.
Sonic felt darkness suround him.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEE-
"SHUT UP"
Sonic got out of bed and kicked his alarm clock into the wall. At Mach 1.
Tails walked in to see multiple walls damaged. "Sonic. Are you ok?" He asked calmly. He never raised his voice to avoid sharing the same fate as the alarm clock, which lay 10 kilometers outside of the house, ground into dust.
"Shadow's gonna die. I can't save him. I saw him die TWICE."
Tails looked cofused. "Twice?"
