Chapter Text
Fafnir and Takiya had been living together for a while now and despite his own wishes Fafnir had begun to develop certain feelings toward Takiya that he didn’t really felt before. Maybe it was their shared interest or close proximity but whenever that gentle silence washed over them in the evenings of gaming Fafnir felt unimaginably content with his current life (even if he didn’t let on easily).
The pair had a common routine: Fafnir would sit and game until Takiya woke up and made breakfast, they’d sit and eat together with a comfortable silence. Then Takiya would go to work, the house felt unbelievably empty when he was gone, Fafnir would spend his time gaming, not exactly admitting he just wanted Takiya to come home.
It’s not like they spoke a lot but there was something about his presence which made Fafnir feel safe and at home. After the long day along Takiya would come home and they would greet each other, they’d sit for a while short conversations of work and games would fill the apartment and as of late they would also fill Fafnir's head full of nerve wracking thoughts that would leave his heart beating faster and his words a bit less careful. They’d have mild curry and life would repeat.
Today was different, Takiya had gone on some walk with Kobayashi by the river. Fafnir would hate to say it but he was jealous. He spent the day looking at the clock “He should be home by six.” but no matter how many times he checked the clock it was still 1:30. It’s like time was working against him. He couldn’t stop thinking about him and that honestly made Fafnir mad. All this over a mere human? It’s pathetic…but Takiya wasn’t just any human, he was Fafnir's human.
Fafnir logged off the game he had finished about fifty times now and closed his eyes. God this was annoying, he could hear the clock ticking and all he could think about was the fact that every tick was another moment closer to seeing Takiya again. As a dragon he would give Takiya special treasure, something special and valuable like gold or a gemstone but Takiya didn’t seem to show interest in such things. Takiya’s treasure was special edition video games, manga and figurines, technically most things in the apartment belonged to Takiya but he never stopped Fafnir from taking his resources. Sitting there in silence for what seemed like years finally paid off as he heard the front door click and he smelt that same safe scent. Fafnir rushed to the door, slightly embarrassed.
“Not like you to greet me at the door Faf-kun”
Fafnir looked back at his chair admittedly embarrassed at his sudden “affection” and managed to mumble out a short
“I thought I’d make dinner tonight since you went on a walk and you are just a human…”
Takiya laughed while taking his shoes off, “Just human huh?” He teased "Well we passed a second hand store on the way back and I got a gift for you!”
He walked to the front room imploring Fafnir to follow him there. Fafnir managed to half stumble to the room and sit down next to Takiya.
“Close your eyes” Fafnir’s heart fluttered as he felt something being placed on his lap.
“I know you really like that manga series I lent you last week,so, I got you a special edition with some extra panels and information pages”
Fafnir opened his eyes, feeling his face go red and his nervousness grow. “A special edition…treasure” maybe Takiya did like him the way he did, maybe they were the same, maybe they could be the same together?
Fafnir collected himself blurting out some thank you with a comment on how he shouldn’t accept gifts from lower lifeforms, but he kept it.
Takiya gave him treasure, his very own treasure. From one being to another.
