Snow Soul Saga - Book 2: Crystalline Soul

Summary:

Some say that Light and Darkness are eternal. Some might even say that the void between is too. If Peace and Chaos are eternal, what can be found in between?

When five humans severed their souls to remain in a peaceful Pokemon world, they found the perfect life. They were not chosen to save the world as the legends have done before, but to save the life of the soul that was lost.

Human or Pokemon, it matters not when history flows to the future, and a promise is shown.

Chapter 1: Fluff in Full Bloom

Chapter Text

“Yay!!! I got my last tail!” A very excited squeal followed as a small white Vulpix bounced up and down at the sight of her sixth tail. Another two Vulpixes entered the room, one being a fire Vulpix with reddish-brown fur, with more red than brown. An elegant mound of fur rested on top of her head, combed and brushed to perfection. She had a gorgeous spread of six fiery red tails, fluffed with incredible volume. The other Vulpix was a white-colored version, with teal paws, icy blue eyes with a deep purple hue surrounding the frosty blue around a large pair of pupils. His six tails held the same voluminous poof of white fur that the fire Vulpix held. The natural curls of white and blue on his head intertwined with each other only slightly but signaled that they were due for a straightening.

His voice was strong but kind as he addressed the tiny version of himself, “That’s awesome, so how do they feel? They don't hurt when you wave them, right? Your fifth tail gave you some problems.”

The little Vulpix waved her tails side to side, then up and down, feeling no pain or soreness that she felt when she received her fifth tail about a month ago. “Nope, all good!” She ran over to the other two Vulpixes who were sitting in the doorway of her room, nuzzling them as the two returned her embrace and hugged the little one. “I love you Mommy Tali, and you too Daddy Snow.”

Tali spoke with the same beauty that reflected her fiery elegance. “We love you too, Crystal.”

Snow and Tali followed their daughter run down the stairs to get ready for breakfast, as the sun broke away from the horizon for the world to awaken. The mother and father recalled their past few months, stretching their memory all the way back to the moment the little Crystal was born. The two connected their minds and they talked about their past, speaking to each other with their psychic abilities.

“It’s been a really great year for us, with so many things happening at the beginning, and a lot of them were fun!” Snow started the mental conversation, speaking to his partner and into her mind.

“Although we’ve had our share of learning curves with this. Remember the fuss she made when she learned she couldn’t fit into our hoods to sleep anymore?”

Tali recalled the memory of her daughter. Before the little Vulpix hatched, her egg was carried by the pair using the hoods from their coats and cloaks. Even after the Vulpix hatched, being smaller than the egg itself, the baby ball of white fluff still preferred to sleep in the hoods of her parents’ cloaks. However, the habit didn’t last forever as she outgrew the hooded beds six months after her birth. “You have to admit, she was adorable in them. She refused to sleep in that crib unless she had a coat with her, curling up into the hood. Even after she got the room when she was old enough, she still held the hood-sleeping habit. Gosh, she’s adorable!” Snow felt his heart flutter from the trip down memory lane.

“Your family loved her cuteness too. Still, it's a shame they only received the one time to see her… her and the rest of us. It’s been almost nine months now since you bid them your final farewell… But I’m happy we all got to see each other, as best as the situation would allow at least.”

Tali brought the memory of that event to the pool of the two minds, still linked as the conversation went on even as they started eating their breakfast. “... And it's been almost three years since I arrived in this world. It’s hard to believe that I still have a human soul. Once I severed the connection to my human body on Earth, I felt the body pass away as the connection left it. I’ve made a lot of progress in this wacky world. Heh, humans usually get flung into this world to save it, but Arceus only sent our souls here to keep the special few species of Pokemon from being lost.” Snow drew his memory all the way back to day one, even remembering Arceus’s words in the void before awakening.

“As well as to help save the last ice Vulpix. You never considered yourself to be alone in the world, even before you met the other humans. Speaking of, I’m glad they all decided to stay, especially Seleene and her sister Uvee. It was quite the fun surprise learning the two of them were sisters, both waking up here at the same time. Oh, the fun we all had on the wedding day.”

“I love you, my Fire Lily.” Snow spoke to his wife, calling her by her favorite name.

“I love you too, my Snowy.” Tali lovingly returned the sentiment to her husband using one of the names she used from the first time she met him in Voyers Pass.

Remembering the old town they used to live in together, Snow comes up with an idea. Finishing his breakfast, along with Tali and the little puff of white fur finishing theirs, Snow brings an idea to the table, directing his message to Crystal.

“Hey, Crystaaal.” Snow started his discussion by playing with the sound of his daughter's name. A simple “Hmm?” was her response as she was finishing the last bite in her mouth. “I have an idea! There’s a store waaaay down to the south…" Snow stretched his paw, creating an arc to emphasize his words, “It’s a store that Mom used to work at; it just reopened a little bit ago. The owner had to close it down to protect it from the stormy season. Now that it’s open again, what do you think about meeting the owner? Her name is Khani and she’s a great friend of mine and a very nice ‘mon.” Crystal was intrigued to see this store and meet her dad’s friend and mom’s old boss. Snow continued with the idea by making a promise to her, “AND… What do you say about getting a cloak of your own? Does that sound like a good plan for today?” This made the little Vulpix light up with joy, she started to squeal but stopped herself to contain her excitement. A short, high-pitched “Yes!” emerged past the little one’s barely contained excitement.

With the rarities of Vulpix appearances, the parents of their cloak-loving daughter found it very difficult to find one of her own once she couldn’t fit into their hoods. Fortunately, the owner of the store, who is a Kangaskhan named Khani, noticed the egg in Snow’s hood when the pair visited the hospital in Voyers Pass. Khani offered to make the little one a cloak of her own, knowing the habits of Pokemon can form before hatching. With Khani’s promise accepted, the parents awaited the appropriate time. With today being the day, the Vulpix family make their way over to Voyer’s pass.
