Work Text:
Andy was enjoying watching the ocean speed by as Kiro drove the boat. Staring up at the sky, the blood red moon beamed down upon them.
All of a sudden, something jolted in Andy's heart and he sat up, breathing heavily. Aster looked over at him with an expression of worry and concern. "Is everything alright?"
The white haired teen grasped his chest and stared over at the horizon, at the city they were speeding away from, "I- I'm not sure. Something doesn't feel right but I can't place why."
In another moment of suddenness, a large green cloud of dust appeared in the middle of the boat. When the dust cleared, Andy wasn't expecting to see Willa there who honestly looked a bit frantic. Kiro stopped the boat, shocked to see another person aboard. The older wizard looked around until her eyes rested on Andy and Aster.
"There you are. Sorry for the interruption but we have a situation and I need you two back now," she explained, grabbing the two teens by the arm. The three of them teleported back to Willa's place in the blink of an eye.
The older wizard snapped her fingers in front of Andy's face and it was like his senses had cleared. Glancing around, Andy noticed that they were in the grand hall and it looked like an utter mess. Books and papers were scattered everywhere, glass potions were scattered everywhere with shards spewed all over the place. The older wizard motioned for them to follow so the two teens followed her upstairs.
Once they got upstairs, Andy saw Robin and Sam standing near the door to the library, their ears pressed to the door and both of them looking quite concerned.
"What on earth is going on?" Andy questioned. Robin and Sam looked up at him, finally noticing there were other people around and stepped away from the door.
Willa was the one that began to explain, "You see. I was setting up a spell with Robin, Sam and your sister but something went wrong and Alex got hit in the crossfire."
That sent a flurry of panic through the white haired teen's veins. "What? Is she alright?"
The three magical beings looked between themselves, a look of guilt shared between them.
"She's… a bit antsy at the moment. After she was hit she started to panic and ran to the library, locking herself inside," Robin explained, fiddling with his hands.
"Why haven't any of you gone in there?" Andy inquired, glancing over at the still locked door.
"Well… She's also a bit aggressive at the moment; We're hoping you'll be able to get through to her and bring her out so we can fix the spell," Willa added on.
That didn't fill Andy with confidence. He did have some idea of how to calm Alex down when she was angry. But with the way they were acting about what happened to her, Andy suspected something else was at play.
Robin picked at the locked door and opened up the door a slight bit. Taking in a deep breath, Andy slipped inside before the door was closed behind him.
Glancing around, the white haired teen saw the state of the scene before him. Books were scattered everywhere with pages torn out and pieces of shredded paper littering the floor. The statues Willa had placed about had also been toppled over, smashed to pieces. Taking a closer inspection at his surroundings, Andy noticed there were claw marks gouged in the walls and floors, even in some of the bookcases. What on earth happened here?
A low growl emanated from somewhere close by; It sounded animalistic. Tip toeing closer to the sound, Andy pressed himself to the nearest bookshelf. The growl emanated again, sounding much closer this time. If Andy had to guess, it sounded like it was coming from behind the bookshelf he was currently behind.
Taking a deep breath, Andy shuffled his way around the corner, through the archway and into the next row of bookshelves. Claws found themselves in Andy's shoulders, pinning him to the wall. He let out a cry of pain as he looked over who attacked him. Snow white fur, onyx tipped ears, pearl white fangs.
Even though she looked completely different on the outside, Andy would always be able to recognize his sister anywhere. Granted, she now had large paws, a snout, fur, a tail and black sclera in her eyes, highlighting the deep blue irises. Her even clothes had many rips and tears in it, fur poking out from everywhere. She'd grown three times her normal size, now towering over Andy when they were usually the same height. Andy gulped, trying to keep himself calm and not panic.
"Alex? Can you hear me?"
Alex did nothing but growl, baring her teeth in a snarl.
"Listen. I know you're in a bit of a sticky situation right now, but if you just listen to me? We can wo-"
Andy was cut off when the white haired werewolf pressed her claws against Andy's throat. He sputtered, trying to take in breaths but the weight of Alex's paw made it hard to. Her other paw rose into the air before raking across Andy's chest, causing the white haired teen to yell out in pain. Looking down, he saw wounds had been gouged into his skin, right around where his chimera crystal was lodged in his chest. Luckily the crystal itself wasn't damaged.
Glancing back up at Alex, the white werewolf raised her paw for another strike; This one looked to be aimed for his throat. Andy attempted to wriggle out of his position but to no such luck. Staring into Alex's eyes, Andy looked at his sister for what could likely be the last time. Words escaped his lips.
"Don't let this haunt you. If I am to go, please let me go peacefully and do not fret over me. I lived a good life and I'm glad you were in it."
He closed his eyes and prepared for impact. "Goodbye Lex."
Moments of silence went by as Andy waited for the impact of Alex's claws. But nothing came. Slowly opening one eye, Andy couldn't believe what he saw. Tears welled up in Alex's eyes and she was shaking like a leaf. Her paw left Andy's throat, allowing him to drop to the floor and catch his breath through wheezy gasps.
Looking over at his sister, Andy saw how Alex had dropped to the floor, pressing herself up against a bookcase and crawling into a ball, paws on her head. Once Andy felt his breathing was somewhat stable, he crept over to Alex, crouching down to her level. He went to reach his hand out but hesitated. Maybe physical touch wasn't what she needed at this current moment. Sitting down, Andy took in a deep breath before the words came to him.
"Listen. Alex. I know you're not feeling the greatest right now but I need you to look at me. That's all I'm asking, just to look."
Alex let out a whimper but did not move her head. Guess words wouldn't work this time. Looks like he was taking a risk.
Reaching out his hand, Andy pressed his hand against Alex's cheek. Her fur felt surprisingly soft and Andy couldn't help himself by moving his hand through his sister's fur. This seemed to work as Alex slowly uncurled herself, raising her head to stare into Andy's eyes.
Andy couldn't help but smile. "There. We're getting there aren't we?"
Alex opened her jaws, seemingly about to talk but nothing but growls and whines came out. Looks like she wasn't capable of speech like this.
"Willa stated she can help you out if we just go outside. You want that right?" Andy inquired, bringing Alex's head into his lap. The white werewolf gave a soft nod.
"Are you feeling up to going outside this room or would you like a bit more time?"
A pause then a shaking of Alex's head, curling more into Andy's lap which was funny given her size. Andy couldn't help but smile softly, stroking his hand through Alex's fur.
"We can spend a bit more time if you need it," he whispered, moving around so he could learn against the bookshelf.
"We have time."
