Chapter Text
This was the end.
Akutagawa was fighting with The Jinko against the Hunting Dogs Commander just a moment ago. Under Dazai-san’s orders he was working with The Jinko. However this plan cost him his own life. Not before making an escape for Nakajima and distracting the commander till he was half decapitated by the blade of space and time manipulation.
“You fool. Hurry up and go.” These were the last words he spoke Atsushi ran to the exit he created. The last thoughts in his mind however were, ‘Gin, please be…’
Then he lost the light in his eyes one last time, not knowing what to expect. Probably hell to be honest, but maybe a black void or abyss? Who knows, but he knew he would have to repent for his crimes.
—————————————————————
After what felt like hours, the pain was gone. All that remained was a feeling of the cold floor beneath him. Wait, cold? No, the docks floor wasn’t as cold as this- it felt like concrete.
He quickly got up just to find that he was in a random alleyway. Despite his initial confusion, he started walking towards the light in the distance. He found billboards and advanced technology filled with people that looked like stereotypical hero's in those comic books he saw the other members of Black Lizard reading before. The place itself was bright and looked like it came out of a comic book. Much more colourful than what he was used to. Whether it was the slums or Yokohama.
”What is this place..?” Akutagawa spoke in confusion. He could have sworn he was killed on the dock just minutes ago. Examining the area he found all kinds of people. Some could control the elements others had their bodies mutated. It was fascinating to see the difference in his world and this one.
He felt his neck to see if it was cut but just felt a massive scar. To get a better grasp of the situation, he decided to walk around and see where he was and what in the world was going on. He looked through a window to see that he looked at same with his normal casual clothes on. He kept walking after that.
Compiling the information he had gathered, he learned he was within a city in Japan named Musutafu. Another thing was that there was this genetic mutation called ‘Quirks’. Much like abilities but weaker. There were also Hero’s who save people’s lives and gain public fame. As well as Villains that are evil people who do crime. Honestly, this world was purely viewed in Black & White in his opinion.
This confirmed his theory that he was in another world. Even if he tried to find a way to go back to his own, it would be impossible. Not to mention he was dead in that world so he would probably die if he even tried. Akutagawa has accepted the possibility of no return, he has to. To survive in such a foreign place he had to get used to this land, he can think things through later.
After some pondering, he deciding that he will process this new environment and research what he can to fit in. The Rabid Dog will also try to conduct more research on his surroundings but he should prioritize survival above all. Although it did take a while for him to comprehend his situation, he came to the conclusion to accept this outcome.
For now, he simply has to find a way for him to survive without proper identification or complete knowledge. He decided to start making survival plans while walking near a famous school named U.A., however before he could finish the thought he felt something behind him. Using Rashomon, he grabbed whatever was behind him. It was just some random thug by the end of the day so he threw the man aside.
“You know, you can’t use your quirk without a hero license. That is basic knowledge… unless you aren’t from this world.” Akutagawa swerved around only to see… nobody?
”Down here!” As he looked down, he saw a rat man? This must be someone with a mutant quirk.
”Who are you?” Akutagawa asks with caution evident in his tone.
”My name is Nedzu. I am the principal of U.A. Japan, although that should be common knowledge if you come from this world. How about we have a chat over some tea?”
”…Fine.”
—————————————————————
They chat for a bit and Akutagawa deems him as trustworthy enough but annoying. They talk about their respective worlds, very little about themselves. Nedzu decides to help Akutagawa, so they head off the Recovery Girl for his coughs.
”…I have a lung disease, and I only have a few months left. I’m not sure if a quirk could fix that though.” Akutagawa explains to the elder. As he himself stated, he isn’t sure it can be cured just like that. His illness has plagued him even before they got out of the slums.
”Oh dear, I can only heal physical injuries. However, I could call someone in who specializes in this type of healing though.” Recovery Girl said.
”Ahh… I see, thank you Recovery Girl-san.” Akutagawa says slightly surprised, he wasn’t expecting it to be so easy when in his own world he couldn’t be cured. It was then that a wild Nedzu appeared out of nowhere.
”Akutagawa-kun, I’m done your paperwork! Oh, and you can live in U.A. staff dormitories for now! Though, is there anything you want to do in this world specifically?” He was curious on what the outlander desired. Akutagawa took the a moment to think.
”I… wish to repay this... act of kindness you have given me. Despite not knowing who I am you still helped me greatly, even if it was only because you were interested on how my previous world worked. You could have taken the information out of me through force and yet you didn't.”
He never wished for such a miserable life in his own world. The only, although very few, real reasons he stayed in the Mafia was to keep his sister safe. Because it was the only thing he really knew. Violence. This much kindness was odd, but this was a new world so perhaps the standards are different.
”Hmm… I know! Become my assistant or well secretary.” Nedzu replies.
”Your… secretary?” Akutagawa was taken aback. He couldn’t comprehend why the little principal wanted a former member of the Port Mafia as his assistant. With Rashomon, he has taken the lives of many and the rat understands that. Not only that but he himself barely got past basic addition and subtraction before having to fight for his life everyday. So why was he being made the secretary in a school filled with future hero's?
“Yes! I want to study abilities and understand you and your world better. It is all very interesting to me. A whole new world to learn about is probably the most interesting thing I could learn of, no? You will also get paid a high salary and a permanent place in the dorms”
‘Ah, of course. He is curious about me. That is why he wants me to be his secretary. I mean he did help me so I can only return the favour. I am also receiving many benefits from this as well.’ Akutagawa thinks before replying, ”Then I can be your secretary, Nedzu-san.”
