Anemone sighed it was a cool crisp morning it felt like it was going to be a good day as long as a certain someone didn't get in her way. she wasn't doing anything right this moment neither her clawmates or Tamarin would be up yet. Talons scraped on the floors behind her she hoped it was Tamarin. She whipped around it wasn't Tamarin it was Tsunami so it wasn't bad but her expression was unusually gloomy
“Hey, anemone…I have some bad news…” her sister muttered stuttering like she was on the verge of tears
“What's happened?!” She gasped
“It's mother…we got news from the seawing healers she-she….di-” Tsunami said with a shaky voice. Anemone knew what she was trying to say Mother's dead
“She can't be you said she was just a little sick and would get better!” Anemone yelled starting to cry
“Anemone I-” Tsunami tried to reach out but it was too late Anemone had already ran.
She ran through the tunnels as tears streamed down her scales. She kept running to the place she felt safest her and Tamarin's flower garden where she was alone. it felt like gill all over again but worse she was younger than Auklet when she’d last seen him but mother- she didn't even know what others expected of her was she too upset or too little what was she meant to do? She wished it could be as simple as it was in her mother's stories. She couldn't help how she felt it was her mother even though she wasn't perfect she was her parent but did she really feel this upset or was she faking it for Tsunami's sake? She just didn't know anymore.
“Anemone?” A voice whispered behind her “Someone said you'd run off in tears I knew you'd be here.” She turned her head. It was Tamarin at least her being there would hurt a little less
“Hello…” She sniffed
“What's wrong?” she asked walking over and sitting next to her putting her wing around her
“It's mother she's died.” Anemone sobbed. There was a long agonising silence following that statement
“Byt it's also that I just don't know if I'm really upset because everyone expects me to be or if I even should be because I really hated her sometimes like am I faking it or is this real and I'm finding it hard to believe she's really gone, and when I come home she won't be there because I've never really felt this as I never really knew my father so it didn't hurt as much and I just never said bye and I wish I could turn back time so I never have to acknowledge what happened.” Everything spilled out of her mouth
“Everyone grieves differently whatever you feel it’s alright if you want we could plant some flowers together if that would help or you could speak to tsunami or turtle I'm sure they're struggling too,” Tamarin replied
“But tsunami will be busy and turtle might not know yet-” anemone retorted
“You won't know unless you talk to them and I'm still here.” She smiled and anemone returned it
“Here take this” She passed anemone a white rose “It can symbolise remembrance. We can plant more if it’d make you feel better classes don't start for another hour,”
“I’d like that I-I think” Anemone stuttered through tears.
