Moonwatcher sighed looking up to the moons. Oracle and perception were full and imperial was in half like when she hatched. It was clam here on the edge of one of the peaks of jade mountain, she often came here to relax, away from the loud crowded hallways especially after the pantalan students arrived. Here the stars glittered and the birds chirped but that was it.
Suddenly she heard the soft sound of wingbeats flying overhead she was blocking out thoughts so she wasn't quite sure who it was but even still she got feelings of loneliness and homesickness. She looked behind her. Flying towards her was the outline of a silkwing or hivewing with glowing flame silk tied around her wrists. The silk lit up her scales revealing green scales. The dragon landed not noticing moon then she looked over
“Ack!...oh it's you Moon...sorry,” the other dragon stumbled back. It was Moon's new clawmate Luna.
“It’s fine I worried you were that hivewing from the silver winglet, '' Moon replied. I wonder why she's here…she probably just needs space like me. Moon had grown to enjoy the silkwing’s company at the academy.
“Dreadful isn’t she?” Luna giggled “you come here too?” she looked up to the moons and stars
“Yes it helps me get some quiet away from the thoughts of others.” she sighed
“I come here when I miss pantala it reminds me that not matter how far I am the moons above are the same,” she smiled slightly “I'm sorry I’m disrupting your quiet,”
“No, it's fine,” she said.
There was a long moment of silence just sitting there enjoying the moment gazing into the sky. Then the silence was broken
“Can I ask something of you?” Luna asked
“Hm?” moon replied
“Well cricket and willow are away on a field trip meaning my cave is pretty quiet, so would it be ok if I slept in your cave tonight...sorry if this sounds weird or something” Luna confessed. Moon was surprised at first but was empathetic of the silkwing’s loneliness
“I’m sure Kinkajou and Mallard won’t mind,” Moon replied, nodding.
They set off together into the glittering sky. Moon following the warm light of the flame silk Luna was wearing. They soared until they reached an entrance to the academy and went in. The hallways buzzed with the presence of sleeping dragons. They turned a corner and entered moon’s cave. Her classmates were fast-asleep and weren’t disturbed by their entry.
“You can sleep here..” Moon pointed to a spot next to the corner where she usually slept
“Thanks.” Luna smiled at her. Moon had been mostly blocking out Luna and everyone else’s thoughts but just in that moment as they were lying down a phrase passed through Luna's mind I’ll tell her soon. Not now but soon.
