Chapter Text
Kabru's house is small and simple. It sits in a large field just outside the village. Close enough for visits to be easy. Far enough for some privacy.
His house also occasionally contains a guest. When he gets home from a long day of work and nursing a headache the smell of freshly made noodles immediately perks him up.
"Captain! Hey! When did you get back?" Mithrun has heard from plenty of people that the way Kabru stares at them with those bright blue eyes of his freaks them out. Mithrun thinks they're all exaggerating.
"Awhile ago. I hope you don't mind I let myself in" keeping his stories short and to the point was one of the many things Mithrun was practicing.
"And you made food!" Kabru beams.
Definitely exaggerating. Mithrun thinks.
"I figured you'd be hungry... It's late" the sun has already gone down.
"You would not BELIEVE how long we discussed a problem similar to the "Which came first the chicken or the egg?" riddle" Kabru pinches the bridge of his nose "Everyone was about ready to tear out their hair but we had to move on to actual important buisness."
"Hmph" Mithrun lets out a breath like one would at the start of a laugh "Why don't you live at the castle? That sounds a lot easier than the hassle of having to walk all the way back here everyday."
Kabru shivers "Sleep at work? Deal with Laios 24/7? With no breaks? No thanks!" Mithrun knows that despite how often Kabru jokes about being annoyed with Laios he truly is fond of the king.
Mithrun can take a guess on why that bothers him but he doesn't want to think about that right now.
"Besides! Sometimes I get home and you're here! Mooooostly to practice what you've learned from Senshi, I'm sure, but I appreciate the company all the same" Kabru's tone of voice is something Mithrun has never heard before.
"What about when I'm not here?" he mumbles just to keep the conversation going.
"Hmm... Well I don't know why but even though the house is small it feels very... Empty. And cold" Kabru narrows his eyes "Like I could swear to you that something was missing..."
"So you don't mind my visiting often?" there's always been the teeny tiniest feeling that he was bothering Kabru. Possibly connected to some other feelings but again Mithrun does not want to think of that now.
"Not at all!" Kabru smiles "I appreciate the company so don't ever stop!" Mithrun thinks what makes Kabru's home special is Kabru himself.
