He in turn was leaning on the mantle and studying the fire that blazed cheerily on the hearth, tendrils of flame reflected in his deep brown eyes. His broad shoulders and warrior’s frame were a stark counterpoint to the sharpness of his mind, his huge hands trained to clasp a pen rather than a lightsaber.
Ben wielded diplomacy as Rey wielded the Force, keeping the scraps of the New Republic together as a shadow grew in the senate. The assassin that had chased him on Chandrila knew it, too—or their master did. Either way, he was safely hidden away here, just as his grandparents had once done. Or so Leia said when she suggested they steal away to Varykino.
