If They Only Noticed

Summary:

It's so obvious that Vox has feelings for Valentino. He's been for a long time but he's too much of a coward to confess. Fortunately, Velvette, being an amazing friend, does her best to make the two men closer.

Chapter Text

Vox's life was rather miserable. As much as he tried to pose to be a successful hellish celebrity, rumours were still spreading. Rumours about him and his unhealthy lifestyle, which was frustrating. Each time he was going out anywhere, the demonic journalists would stop him and ask tons of questions, to which there were really no answers. He got used to sleeping four hours top and then working the next twenty, often forgetting to eat and drink. Was that really so important? Nah. After all, VoxTek needed its leader — despite having tons of employers who could easily step in for Vox for a few days.

The only person who was able to get the demon to take care of himself at least a little bit was Velvette. Out of the three of the Vees she was the most responsible despite her impulsive personality that usually drove the other Overlords nuts. It was now rather common for her to bring Vox least a snack to eat or water to drink which he would always accept after a few good minutes of whining and complaining, trying to convince her that everything was fine. Nothing was fine. He was overworking himself to the point when he would be found by either Velvette or — less often — Valentino passed out at his desk which he would, of course, deny the next day.

The other Vees were really concerned about him but also wouldn't say it out loud. Velvette was too proud to say it and admit that after all she did care about the TV demon and Valentino after all had his own things to deal with — his movies and whores and keeping them on a leash so they wouldn't run away from him. Vox was below all that — at least that's what Vox thought. No matter, how much he tried to draw Valentino's attention, he would fail because there was always something more important than him.

"You should finally stop sulking and just tell him that you've been simping for him since like forever!" Velvette said one night when she had to again comfort Vox after another day of hearing Valentino talking about Angel Dust or some other whore that either pissed him off or did a good job.

It was easier said than done. Currently, their relationship, or what Velvette liked to call it — situationship, wasn't that bad. They would make out spontaneously, even fuck from time to time when none of the moth's employees wee available. Occasionally, Val would brush Vox's cheek or tell him that he looked sexy in his suit. It was only that or that much. Vox appreciated and enjoyed every second he could spend with his friend and, even though, he wanted more, he was afraid that if he confessed his feelings to Valentino it would be all gone. After all, the pimp didn't seem like a long-term relationship person. He enjoyed one-night stands, being able to fuck whoever he wanted whenever he wanted and no matter how much Vox was trying — it was very unlikely to change. That's why, he was spending most of his time alone, working. That was a good way of occupying his mind and, at least, pretending that he wasn't a total loser.

One day, while one of Vox's very rare breaks while he was just responding to emails in their living room with Velvette enjoying her drink, Valentino must have finished shooting his movies earlier because he walked in and went straight to the mini-bar pouring himself a glass of some fancy whiskey that Vox couldn't care less. His eyes were fully focused on the moth's hips and the way they were swaying as he moved.

"You're early," Velvette pointed out, making herself more comfortable on the sofa.

"Yeah, the whores did a good job today so I called it a day." The demon took a big sip of his glass and flopped on the other sofa, putting his feet on the armrest and spreading his wings gently underneath him, making some kind of blanket out of them. Vox would love to at least have a chance to be able to cuddle with Val like that — the moth demon wrapping his wings around him.

"So what are your plans for the rest of the day?" the girl asked while the TV demon stayed quiet. He was still feeling blue after another depressing night during which he was convincing himself that Valentino would never look at somebody like him.

"I'm going out. Fuck or drink, I haven't decided yet," he responded nonchalantly.

The answer gave Velvette an idea and after having a quick look at Vox she continued talking. "Awesome, take Vox with you." The TV demon looked up from his tablet and glared at the girl, feeling his heating system starting to work faster. "Just look at him, he need some relaxation."

Valentino looked up and down at Vox causing the demon to curl up a little — his look always intimidated him.

"No, no, I'm fine I don't really like going out—" he started talking, trying to get himself out of this situation but Velvette was quick to cut him off.

"Bullshit, don't listen to him, Val. Come on, Vox, you'll have fun." The demon wasn't sure. He didn't fit in Valentino's friend group and probably that's why he had never seen him as anybody more than a work partner. Vox wasn't a go out and go wasted type of person. He mostly avoided crowded and loud spaces. Loved alcohol, of course, but his preferred way to consume it was at the Vees' apartment with maximum two people around him — Velvette and Valentino. It was sometimes ironic that Vox — the Hell's celebrity who showed himself as one who loved attention was actually trying to stay way from it in his private life.

"You really want to?" Valentino asked giving Vox a bit of an unsure look while Velvette glared at him, very obviously showing him that he should go.

"Well... Maybe a bit of a break might help, actually," he said, fiddling with his tablet.

"Fine, be ready in an hour, Voxy. Wanna go too, Vel?"

"Nah, I'm fine, already have plans, don't worry about me."

Valentino got up, put his glass on the counter and went to his room, probably to get ready himself.

As soon as Val left the room Vox glared at Velvette. "Are you fucking insane?!" he hissed.

"Listen, you idiot, you'll be thanking me soon. Now, go get ready."

The demon was standing in front of a tall mirror looking at his reflection and sighing. He didn't have a bad body. He was slim, tall, maybe a bit muscled but he was far from looking as desirable or sexy as Valentino's lovers — as Angel Dust. Many times, the pimp praised Vox's body during their intimate nights (or rather just fucking nights — calling it intimate was a bit of a hyperbole) and each time he encouraged him to wear something more 'slutty' as he liked to call it. But the demon didn't feel it at all. He tried once and hated it. Suits and elegant clothes were more to his liking — but apparently not to Val's.

"Look at you, Voxy! Admiring yourself in the mirror? I always knew you had a big ego!" Vox heard the moth demon voice from behind and soon saw him in the reflection as well.

The demon grabbed Vox's hips with his lower arms as he always used to and squeezed them gently making the other demon whimpered — he loved that touch.

"But I wish you wore something that would show your beautiful body." Sometimes Vox felt like Valentino was talking to him the same way he was talking to his whores. Was he only that to him? Another whore to fuck when he wanted to?

As the thoughts piled up in the demon's head the pimp started planting kisses on his neck. As much as Vox loved it, he didn't want it all to continue. He was so done with being Val's side chick who would always say yes to anything that the pimp suggested. That's why, he placed his hands on his partner's chest and pushed him a bit, showing that he didn't approve of what was about to happen.

"What's up, Papito?" Vox was absolutely losing it all when Valentino was speaking Italian, he felt his knees bending a bit.

"I— we'll be late. I don't like being late," he gave the pimp some cheap excuse and went past him to the door, not checking if Valentino was following him. He only heard his annoyed groaned but, eventually, felt his presence next to him.

While they were leaving the apartment, they bumped into Velvette who was just grinning like a fool as she saw the two of them. Everything was going according to her plan and she wasn't even hiding it. Fortunately, Valentino was too occupied with trying to light his cigarette to notice.

"Here." Vox turned around and lit the cigarette for him, this time not making his outstanding heart pattern. It was about to be a very awkward night but Vox wanted to make the most of it.
