    Summary

His eyes flicked around the room at the faces of his advisors and the merchants, quietly thankful for his role mainly as a figurehead. All eyes were typically off of him during these meetings unless his approval was called, in which case Kabru would usually give him a sign prior to when he was needed. On a couple of occasions, he'd given him small bits of paper to read off of when he noticed he'd spaced out again. He was endlessly thankful for him and was glad to have him by his side, he'd make a complete fool of himself otherwise.

He'd been his near constant companion since his coronation, but his closeness never chafed. He kept him from over-sharing details at inopportune times and was always eager to lend a helping hand or a forgotten detail about a diplomat. He was a welcome friend and a trusted source of truth. There was only one problem.

Kabru hadn't met his eyes since the Dungeon fell.
