His shoulder tingled, too, just as strongly as it had the first time he had held her on her very first day of life. He had passed it off as the thrill of holding a baby, which was something he had never done before, especially such a beautiful tiny child with blood so close to his own, or perhaps it had only been a simple longing for a child of his own someday, but now he knew what it had meant. He had to take a deep breath, trying to think through the implications.
He would have to wait more than 10 years to be with his soulmate, and looking at the scrawny child before him, could not believe that she would someday blossom into a woman who he was destined to love. It made his head swim as he dropped her hand and leaned back against the wall with his eyes closed.
