2 - "I'm not wearing that"

Summary:

Noir tries to convince the Homelander to go out incognito.

Work Text:

"I'm not wearing that."

You pinch the bridge of your nose. You expected some pushback when you showed the Homelander the outfit you'd picked out for him—nothing flashy, just a nice sweater and a pair of khakis—to wear to parent-teacher conferences.

You weren't  expecting... this.

I'm not sure why I didn't expect it, you think to yourself. The man's as stubborn as the day is long.

"It's not even for me," you tell him. "It's for Ryan. I just don't think making a big flashy entrance at school is going to be good for him or help him fit in."

He rolls his eyes and makes an agonized groaning sound.

"Alright, alright," he concedes. "If it's for Ryan, I'll... go incognito." He says the last two words like he's describing some sort of disgusting task.

Which it might be, now that you think of it. You don't think you've ever seen him in civilian clothing, let alone his secret identity. Not even when he was just starting out. This might just be too far out of his comfort zone, even for R—

"Well?" He stands in front of you, shrugging. "Does this look as awful as it feels?"

It doesn't. The outfit actually fits him better than you expected. You walk over to him, take his hand, and kiss him on the cheek.

"You look as handsome as ever," you tell him. The sour look is still on his face, but you can see a smile forming at the corners of his mouth. "Let's round up Ryan and head to the school."
