Summary
The squat concrete walls of the Eldian Military Hospital and Asylum were surrounded on three sides by yellowed lawns and a tall iron fence topped with concertina wire. The slats of the fence were closely spaced and ended in sharpened points. In the afternoons, civilians would gather outside and pass messages and packages to their loved ones through the narrow bars. This passing of goods and information was strictly prohibited, yet it went unremarked upon by the PSA men who patrolled the hospital grounds.
