Summary
Even with his malnourishment and exhaustion, the resemblance became even more uncanny the closer she looked; his nose turned up in the same way, the same arch of his brows and the shape of his eyes, the shells of his ears, the curve of his lips.
Anthea wondered as she gently rotated the boy’s head from side to side, fingers sliding through his curls as she examined the jewelry in his ears. Was it just coincidence that this boy looked so much like her daughter? Or was he some sort of copy or alternate of this world to show her what her grandson could have been?
Turning the boy’s face forward again, she gently stroked her thumbs along the hollows of his cheeks. Up close she could see minute blue gemstones on the bells that framed his face, but the golden ring in his nose was of a delicate filigree of a Star. If the Star was indicative of what magic the boy had, he was Solen’s Blessed.
Just like X’yll and her unnamed grandson.
