It was really a joke, he never thought Miyano would actually wear it.
He bought it as a silly gift for Miyano, for finally moving together, a little apartment near the university and Sasaki’s new job. But honestly, that was just an excuse, he just saw it in a store, thought it would be cute on his boyfriend (and the face he would make once he saw it) and bought it on an impulse.
“Myaa-chan, I bought you a gift to celebrate!”
“Eh?? A bunny hoodie?”
“Haha, just kidding~”
“It’s really soft and fluffy”
“Uh?”
It backfired on him at the end, because it was indeed so soft, warm, and fluffy, that Miyano would wear it to sleep a lot.
It was winter, so, some days, after taking a shower, Miyano would use it with some pajama pants, walking around the apartment, or lying on bed reading a BL, putting the hood over his head to feel warmer. With the black ears standing over his head and the little bunny tail at the bottom of the hoodie, it makes the younger one look more like a real bunny.
It was so adorable, and he was a weak man for his boyfriend. Yet Sasaki discovered that he can be even weaker to the raven head.
They’ve been living together for only a month now, but he keeps learning new things about Miyano every day, and the first thing he learned was how clingy he was in the mornings.
Being used to waking up pretty early to help at the bakery, made a habit to his body. Usually he would wake up first, and sometimes in the mornings, he would open his eyes and see the sleeping beauty in front of him, other times curled up against his chest. The ginger head being the heater between them, always searching for the cold skin of the younger one, while the other would sleepily search for something warm to hold, it was the perfect balance between them.
It was a blessing, actually, seeing Miyano first thing in the morning, but there were other mornings when Sasaki would wake up curled up on his boyfriend's chest, like today. Sasaki could hear Miyano’s heartbeat and felt arms around his head, taking care of it as if it was something precious. Looking up he stared at the peaceful face for some long minutes, but knowing he needed to start his daily activities to be ready on time, he decided, against all his desires, it was time to get free of his boyfriend's arms. Getting up from the bed, he kissed Miyano’s forehead (getting a little comfy sound in return from him) and started to cook their food of the day.
They never actually talked about it, it was never decided that Sasaki would cook their breakfast and lunch, but it just normally happened, he liked to cook, and loved to do it for Miyano. It was convenient for both of them, it was cheaper than eating out, and later at night, Miyano, being the first one to be back home, will try his best to cook dinner for them.
Getting out from the fridge all the things he needed for that day, he set up their coffee pot so it can be ready for when his beloved wakes up. Then, he looked at the hour and counted how much time he had to finish everything… or at least try to, because the inevitable will always happen, every morning, sometimes even before he has finished everything.
Better to start now.
Time later, when breakfast was ready and he was finishing setting the food on their lunch boxes, he felt a pair of arms hugging him from behind, and then the touch of a small head on his back.
It was time.
“Shuuuumei-san, the bed is so cold without you”
He laughed at how Miyano extended the sound of his name, as he usually did when he was drunk too.
“Coffee is ready, you want a cup?” Sasaki was trying really hard to not laugh. It had been like this since the first day, and he still finds him adorable.
He tried to move to reach for the mentioned cup, tried, because a set of arms squeezed him more, not letting him move.
“Don't leave me.” Miyano's sleepy voice replied.
Ah, Sasaki was so weak for him. Being careful to not break the hug, he slowly turned over and was surprised to see a set of bunny ears in front of him.
Oh no
Miyano didn't sleep with it last night, so probably, feeling cold, he grabbed it and put it on before getting out of their room.
This was gonna be harder.
It was always harder with the bunny hoodie.
The joke was indeed on him.
He felt the younger man putting his head on his chest, trying to get even closer, to steal the warmth of his body.
“What about I serve you some coffee, finish putting everything inside the lunch boxes and then we eat breakfast together? I made your favorite today.”
“Mmmmm” he heard a muffled reply.
Yeah, that was a weak argument in the ears of a sleepy Miyano.
The perks of both of them waking up early was not only eating breakfast together, but to enjoy these silly moments in the morning, without being late to work… yet.
“Wanna help me then?” Sasaki put one hand behind the raven head, caressing it over the hood, while the other went to Miyano’s waist.
“Will you keep holding me?”
Well, that was going to be harder, but not impossible.
Instead of giving him a reply, he held Miyano closer to his body and turned both of them, Sasaki looking at the kitchen counter again, with Miyano face still on his chest. Although, the new position wasn’t that good to move his hands freely, it was cozy. It made him happy.
To think that years ago he had to hold back to avoid touching the boy he loved, and now he has it all to himself, with said boy now asking him to not stop touching him.
Continuing with the task, he started to put the food inside Miyano’s box, some second later he felt the smaller body turning around to the kitchen counter too. Now with the new accommodation, the bunny ears were on Sasaki’s sight. Instead of moving Miyano, he pushed aside the ears on the hood with his chin and put his head over the younger one.
Just as he was getting Miyano’s lunch box ready, the raven head was now working on Sasaki’s, imitating the steps the older one did. They were slow, not being able to move that easily, but some minutes later they were able to finish.
Since they were over, Miyano wasn’t that sleepy anymore, so probably he wasn’t that needy, but still, now that his hands were free, he grabbed Miyano from his waist again, turned him around and gave him a sweet morning kiss.
“Good morning Myaa-chan”
He could see his face clearly now, it was adorable. His face was a little bit red for that kiss, then a set of big brown eyes, under black hair that combined so well with the black hood and the black bunny ears over it.
He loved him so much.
He gave him another kiss, this time to that precious little nose.
Miyano hid on his chest again.
“Good morning Shuumei-san”
He was really like an adorable bunny.
Serving everything together on the table, they ate and talked until it was time to get ready. After cleaning the table Miyano took the plates to the sink and rolled up the hoodie sleeves. Giving the back to Sasaki he said “I will wash everything, go and change or you are going to miss the train again.”
Sasaki couldn’t stop staring at the little bunny tail at the bottom of the hoodie.
“I'm gonna miss a lot of trains if you keep using that in the mornings.”
Miyano turned, with a questioning look, not hearing Sasaki’s words “Mhm? What did you say?”
“That I'm getting ready now! Thank you for cleaning the dishes!”
Knowing he was a weak man; he left the kitchen to go to their shared room before trying to do something else.
After some hours, another long day at work was over, Sasaki was finally able to go back home, he couldn't wait to see his boyfriend again, to hug him and kiss him.
“I’m home” he said once he was inside their small apartment, his voice sounded more tired than he expected and damn, he felt tired.
“Welcome back Shuumei-san!” Miyano perked his head out of the kitchen, smiling.
Ah, there he was, with just seeing that smile he felt automatically better, and there was already a nice smell coming from the kitchen.
Sasaki started to take his shoes off and Miyano’s head disappeared again, probably to take care of the food on the stove. Just as he was going to walk inside the kitchen to help, he stopped dead at the entrance.
The fridge door was open, and the only thing perking from it was a little black bunny tail, moving a little as he could hear the sound of the crispers being opened and closed. With Miyano crouching down, all his body was hidden except for that little part of the hoodie.
Yeah, the joke was definitely on himself.
“Do we still have carrots? I thought we did, ah, I should have bought some before coming back.”
Sasaki wasn’t able to reply at all, how funny, of all the things he could have asked for at that moment...
“Shuumei-san?” Miyano stood up, hiding the little tail, but this time showing his head.
“S-Sorry, I was distracted” and of course he was. Miyano was wearing that hoodie again, and although he wasn’t wearing the hood on his head, now he could see the bunny ears falling down to his waist. “What are you cooking?”
“I’m trying to make some Yakisoba… but I forgot the carrots.”
“It should be fine without them.”
“Okay! Then let me put things back in order again.”
Miyano crouched down again, and the little bunny tail made its presence back at the bottom of the fridge door. Sasaki couldn't take his eyes off it until it disappeared when Miyano stood up and closed the fridge.
“I think I’m close to finish, you can take a shower meanwhile if you want.”
Instead of that Sasaki walked towards him and hugged him. Miyano quickly hugged him back.
“Hard day?”
“It's always hard when I'm not with you. How was school?”
Miyano giggled at his silliness “How is that? School was good and Oh! By the way, I got a call for a second interview!”
The raven head freed himself from the hug and returned to the task at the stove.
“You did?! I was sure you did good, when is the next one?” but Sasaki didn't lose a second and moved behind him, hugging him from the back.
“In two days!”
They kept like that, talking while Miyano was cooking with a hugging boyfriend on his back, a set of big arms around his waist and another head on his. Taking advantage of that, he would sometimes turn around to make Sasaki taste a little bit of something to be sure it was still good.
Sasaki loved this new life, just the two of them, with no interruptions. Enjoying each other's presence.
Once they were over having dinner, Sasaki took a shower and once he was back in their room, he saw Miyano resting on his stomach on the bed, reading a manga. The hood with the bunny ears back on his head, and the tail at his bottom.
This was going to be the end of Sasaki Shuumei, thanks to his bunny boyfriend. but instead of staring weirdly at him, he decided to lay in bed too and hug him.
“Shuumei-san! Your hair is still wet, you'll catch a cold!”
“Sorry, I just saw an adorable bunny and wanted to hug him!” He quickly kissed the younger’s check.
“What's with you today?” Miyano giggled.
“Wanna help me with my hair?”
Leaving the manga aside, and sitting on the bed he smiled “you really like it when I dry your hair, don't you?”
And while Miyano was busy with the hairdryer, being really careful with the ginger hair, Sasaki decided it was time to ask that thing he suspected for a while now.
“Hey, Myaa-chan, can I ask you something?”
“What is it?”
“You really like that hoodie, don't you?”
The hair dryer stopped and looking up, Sasaki found a very blushed Miyano
“W-Why are you asking that now?”
“Well, you use it a lot”
“I mean… yeah, you gave it to me”
“To be honest, I thought you wouldn't use it, so it surprised me”
“Why would you think that?”
“ ‘Cause you don't like to be called adorable”
“Umh I-” Miyano was so red, his eyes looking at everything but his boyfriend's eyes. “I-I didn't like it before, but if it's you I don't mind…”
Sasaki stared at him.
“B-Besides, if it's a gift from you of course I will use it and the hoodie feels really soft on my skin and is so warm, it's really comfortable to sleep or to use with this cold weather. And well, you gave it to me, so it reminds me of you, and if I use it while we sleep it will somehow catch some of your smell, so when I'm not with you it makes me feel like you are hugging me. And obviously I will only wear it when I’m at our home, I wouldn't like someone else to see me like this besides you, that would be embarrassing, but with you I feel safe so…”
In that long rambling, Miyano said a lot of things that made Sasaki’s heart skip some beats but…
Home.
Miyano said our home.
It was their home now.
That word felt incredible.
But instead of remarking that part, Sasaki said “Yeah, I don't want anybody else but me to see you wearing your bunny outfit.”
“Hey! Is not an outfit!”
“Hahaha! It suits you so well Myaa-chan!”
“Seriously, what were you thinking when you got it?”
“Honestly? That my boyfriend would look so adorable in it!”
At that, Miyano turned on the hairdryer again and blew the hair on Sasaki’s forehead.
“Look who's talking! You are adorable even without a hoodie!”
“Hahahaha! Wait, wait Myaa-chan!”
Their giggles turned into laughter, and then to small kisses on each other's faces, until it was time to turn off the lights, ending another day together.
“Good night, Shuumei-san” hugging his boyfriend, Miyano smiled at him before closing his eyes and resting his head on the other’s neck.
“Sleep well, Myaa-chan”
Sasaki rested his nose on the black hair, the bunny ears falling behind the hair, the color matching perfectly. Hugging him more tightly and smelling their shampoo, he smiled before closing his eyes.
Thinking about all that happened that day, he couldn't avoid feeling incredibly happy. If every day of his life was going to be like this one, Sasaki couldn't wait more for tomorrow.
