Calling each other ‘jagi’ is a normal occurrence for Jaehee and Riku. Well, only Riku. It all starts with him casually calling Jaehee with the pet name after the content they filmed the other day. Even though Jaehee was flustered as the older nonchalantly called him ‘jagi’ for the first few times, but as time goes by, Jaehee is no longer phased by the pet name exclusively for him.
On the morning Riku woke up, he automatically went to the kitchen with a hungry stomach. He looked over to the breakfast prepared on the table but none of it was able to enter his stomach. Riku prefers a light breakfast menu such as toasted and scrambled eggs with a hot cup of coffee to keep him energised for the rest of the day. With the simple menu, it wouldn't be a problem for him to take a pan and put it on the stove to cook a sunny side up while the toaster does the rest. But how lazy he is currently at the moment, Riku decided to search for Jaehee instead. The only guy who loves to take care of him.
Riku scanned through the living room area for the presence of Jaehee but the boy wasn't there. “He must have still been sleeping,” Riku murmured. Jaehee is known as a sleepyhead in the group. Knowing that he still won't be up, especially on their day off, Riku walks into the latter’s room and as expected, Jaehee is still sleeping soundly in his bed.
“Jagi,” Riku called out to Jaehee from the stairs of the bunk bed. Despite his tall frame and persistent calls, Jaehee remained unresponsive, lost in sleep. Undeterred, Riku continued to coax Jaehee awake, using their endearing pet name and even resorting to pinching Jaehee's puffy cheeks.
Finally, Jaehee stirred, turning his body to face Riku with a sleepy gaze. “Riku hyung, good morning,” he greeted in a hoarse, morning voice.
"M-morning," Riku stammered, feeling shy with their faces so close and Jaehee's voice sounding oddly attractive to his ears. “Jagi, I'm hungry,” Riku pouted as he carefully descended the stairs and hid his blushing face away.
Riku's natural display of cuteness seemed to melt Jaehee's heart, eliciting a giggle from the boy as he followed Riku into the kitchen.
“Does hyung want some toasted bread?” Jaehee called out from the bathroom, his mouth filled with toothpaste. From the dinner table- Riku replied before sipping his warm coffee, their interactions flowing seamlessly as Jaehee took care of his Riku hyung and Riku gratefully accepted his loving service.
Whilst waiting for the toaster to toasted four pieces of the bread, with the pan on the stove, Jaehee cooked scrambled eggs with tomatoes and seasoned it with salt and pepper. The breakfast meal he's cooking is enough for both of them.
From behind, Riku observes Jaehee's cooking. Or he is more likely to stare on Jaehee's broad back; watching the back muscles visible on the white t-shirt. Riku shakes his head, quickly dismissing the possible thirsty ideas that might pop up in his mind.
Jaehee is still diligently cooking them breakfast, totally invested in making the dish. Meanwhile Riku, bored of waiting and his hungry stomach wouldn't help him to be patient either, Riku excitedly sings as a mantra for the food to cook quickly and the smell of scrambled eggs and toasted bread filling in the house just made his stomach rumbling angrily.
“jagi, I'm hungry~ jagi, please cook quickly~ jagi, you look cool~” Jaehee didn't budge from the ‘mantra’ and finished plating the foods on each of their plates. Though, there's a small hint of smile planted on his face.
Riku eats a delicious breakfast specially prepared by Jaehee for him. The simple act of service has made Riku become the happiest person in life. They eat in a comfortable silence. A few minutes later, in contrast to Riku, Jaehee finished his breakfast in a few huge bites. While waiting, Jaehee checks his schedule for tomorrow on his phone.
“Riku hyung, what are you gonna do today?” Jaehee asked in an exciting tone. He has thought of a good plan to spend his off day.
“Probably I'll be just sleeping…or binge watching the drama I haven't got to finish yet.” Riku shrugged.
“Oh…” Jaehee sounds disappointed with Riku's response, catching his attention to know about Jaehee's plans.
“Why? Do you want me to go anywhere with you?”
With the questions, Jaehee's eyes light up and Riku swears he could see the invisible tail wagging excitedly.
“I was thinking, it would be great to walk around the Han River again since today's weather is great. We could walk together slowly, have a picnic, and even ride the duck boat!” Jaehee excitedly explained.
“Hm…” Riku considers the plan for a while. Honestly, on his precious day off, Riku prefers to lay on his bed all day while watching drama or anime. But as the golden retriever is anticipating his responses with such sparkled eyes, Riku is defeated. Sighing, “Okay.”
“Really?” The golden retriever gets up from his seat and bends over across the table, leaning his upper body towards Riku. In a swift manner, Jaehee pecks Riku's right cheek and whispers to him, “thanks, jagi” He said.
Riku is left stunned on the dinner table as Jaehee fetches their plates to wash them. Never ever Riku has thought that Jaehee would return the pet name back to him and with a peck- a freaking peck! Kissing him on his cheek. At the moment, maybe agreeing to go on a date with Jaehee on their day off wouldn't be a bad idea after all.
