And you never will.

I watch from afar as the silhouette of her body shifts as the light casts down the hallway. I watch as the shadow raises her cigarette to thin lips and puffs out the smoke I can smell vaugly. On the letter, she told me I would arrive at night and she would address me in the coming morning. I wander the eerie halls towards the servants chambers only a vauge set of directions on the way to get there fresh in my mind. I only hear the lady of the castles booming voice for the first time when she calls for one of her children. The sturdy castle seems to tremble as much as I do, and afterwards seems to lead me towards where I need to be. Perhaps it's happy to have someone just as scared as it is.
I arrive at the small chambers opening the unlocked door to be greeted by three other faces looking up at me. The room was small, but not cramped. A bed with the headboard agaisnt the wall in each corner of the room. Next to it a small nightstand with a lamp that had a lacy black shade. A large window on the side opposite from the large wooden doors. High raised cellings made each room look so much bigger.
"You must be the new maid!" A girl with jet black hair, who was as thin as a pencil stood up from her bed. The hair was mid length, a soft curl, her nightgown down to hemr knees white in color. "I'm am Maria. Head maiden of the four of us. That's Ziya." *she points to the far left corner. The girl seemed shy. Around my build, maybe a little thinner. Frizzy brown hair, fair skin, with freckles on her face. She simply gave me a nod and stuck her nose back in her book. "And that's liddy." *she points to a girl with her dark hair in a bun, arms crossed, who looked my way and then out the window. Thin like Maria, and a scowl on her face.
"That's your bed." She pointed to the empty bed in the front left corner. I move myself and my things to the corner, shutting the door behind me. "So! What's your nameee....?" She says, trailing closley behind me."I'm Y/N" I reply, trying to keep the conversation to a minimum. "You can put your clothes under the bed. There's storage under there. And that's the showers and bathrooms" she points to the door between me and Ziya's beds. I take out my bedsheets, and my clothes. "So, new girl...-" she starts. She stops when loud footsteps echo the hall outside.
"Lights out ladies."
*Maria scurried to her bed and all of them clicked out their lights. The night was not bright night for me to unpack, but I turned off my lamp too. "Ziya. Go ask Lady dimitrescu if Y/N can keep her light on so she can unpack." Maria commands. "Why me?" Ziya asks, her voice quiet but stern. "Don't you want Lady dimitrescu to think you have a backbone?" Maria asks, eyeing her up and down. Ziya complies and goes out to the hallway. Three minutes later she comes back in. "The lady says you may. She asks that you make haste, and hopes you enjoy your first night in her castle." I nod, and thank her before continuing to unpack, turning my lamp back on.
After I unpack I take a moment to reflect. I was already clean and I look around at my fellow maidens, then out the broad window. I use my magic to try and pick up a pillow, mainly to test how well it works here. It works incredibly. It's flowy and milky...and glimmery. But the thing about it is that everyone here thinks I'm a normal human. A normal maid. Here my part means nothing. Here my status means nothing. And I like it that way.
