A year after the events concerning time travel, a cosmic horror, and dealing with institutional corruption and his demons while getting into a relationship with Kaj, Peter felt like his life was going in a positive direction until Po called him one early morning.
After getting sucked into a vortex as a result of helping Po out with another one of his ideas, Peter and Kaj find themselves in the former's home world, where Peter is forced to deal with his dark past by being reunited with his father, Joel Miller.
However, the reunion was short-lived as they had to go on a brutal journey across a post-apocalyptic United States while escorting a young girl named Ellie to get her to the Fireflies, all the while, with Kaj's help, Ellie might be the key to stopping the CBI infection for good.
