Summary
Gale of Waterdeep and his new lover, the Seldarine drow sorcerer Anja, learn more about each other as they make love in the purely physical realm for the first time. Gale may have his secrets, but so does Anja, and they discover that their lives may have been on paths that would cross even without their abductions by the Illithid. His belief in love newly sparked, Gale must face what he will lose if he decides to obey his goddess and detonate the orb—and what will come next if he does not.
“No magic but mine,” she whispered, as without a thought she gestured something into existence—some sort of barrier that silenced the ambient sound of their companions’ voices and the distant howling of the Shadow Curse. And presumably silenced them to those outside of it. “I want you.” She slid her hand under his robe. “This skin, this flesh, this bone. I want your body this time, Gale.”
