As Sonic defeats the last of Eggman's robots, the dust from the battle begins to fade.
A chuckle comes from beyond the mist. Sonic catches his breath as he looks around, trying to determine who is laughing. He kept his guard up as it sounded unfamiliar but- eerily familiar at the same time. The voice was deep, so if it was someone he knew, it could only be two people he knew. "Who's there? Knuckles? Shadow?"
"So, we meet again..." A dark, black-and-white figure emerges from the dust. He has an evil look on his face as he slowly approaches Sonic with the intent of attacking.
Sonic looks the figure up and down. The creature before him was definitely a jackal. Did he know any jackals? He put his thumb to his chin as he tapped his foot, thinking. After all, he's met many people; how could he remember every single one? The face he couldn't recall, but the white flowing fur looked familiar. "Wait, have we met before?" He looked the other up and down one last time to see if anything would ring a bell.
He scoffed; Sonic had always had a cocky attitude to him, even while facing death. "We did. In fact, I captured and almost killed you." He watched as the hedgehog's face looked even more confused, trying to figure out who he was. He stared in disbelief. "You really don't remember me?" He would've thought he made a big impact on the hedgehog, but being forgotten like this was insulting.
Sonic shrugs, "In my defense, that happens to me surprisingly often." He thinks hard about who this jackal could be. He definitely recognizes some of his features, but from whom?
The jackal sighs, "It seems torturing you for six months on the death egg didn't leave a big enough impact." He lunges forward to punch Sonic.
Sonic gasps as he avoids the punch and runs behind the jackal. "Infinite? Man, didn't recognize you without the mask or the phantom ruby."
Infinite turns to face him, quickly throwing more attacks his way. "I see you do remember me after all. I shall capture you and turn you over to Eggman once again." He extends his leg, kicking Sonics running feet, tripping him.
Sonic lands face-first on the ground and groans. He couldn't stay and fight. He promised tails they'd go to an invention competition, and he was already running late. "Sorry man, I'm kinda busy right now; maybe another day?" Not giving Inifitie a chance to respond, Sonic runs circles around Infinite, trapping him in a small tornado and blowing him away.
Sonic runs off to go find tails. Infinite curses himself. Next time. Next time he'll get that damned hedgehog or die trying.
