Chapter Text
When Izuku opened his eyes, a nice, fresh breeze hit his face. He wasn't sure when exactly he came back to. He often went onto his roof while he was seven, it really could have been any day. Well, did it really matter? He wasn't going to stay long anyways. Still, letting himself take a break wasn't going to do harm to anyone.
The cool breeze brushing against his face had always felt nice. He liked the feeling of his lungs filling with fresh air as he looked at the night sky. It sometimes helped him forget. He felt less suffocated, he felt free.
He couldn't help humming his favorite song while watching the beautiful view in front of him. Although the starts could not be seen well, the scenery was still breathtaking. The darkness was filled with the lights of the apartments surrounding him. A lot of people still stayed awake to this hour, thus a lot of windows were illuminating the surroundings. People were walking on the streets, talking with friends or coming home late after work. Cars in multiple different colors passed by quite often considering how late it was.
He still remembered all the times when he came out here to drown in the noise. He hated staying in his appartment. It was always quiet, he couldn't make any noise. His mother didn't like being disturbed after all. No, it would be more accurate to say that she just didn't want to acknowledge his existence. Making noise in her presence never ended well. It never had and probably never would.
As he continued humming quietly while enjoying his momentary peace, he started feeling someone's gaze on him. He could immediately guess who it was. He had become so accustomed to this man's presence that there was no way he would mistaken it for someone else's.
"Come out~ Come out~ Wherever you are~" he sing-songed without bothering to turn his head around. He heard the man shuffling behind him, however he made no move to come out of his hiding spot. "I'm talking to you, mister who likes to hide in the shadows and watch children like a creep." There was no hiding the playfulness in his voice as he continued watching the sky.
Slowly, Aizawa Shouta emerged from the corner of the roof where he had been observing this strange child from. He had just started patrolling and found a kid who couldn't have been older than 5 sitting on a roof. He had been way too close to edge for Shouta's liking, however he had decided that he should observe first. He hadn't wanted to take the risk of startling him and making him do something extreme.
"Kid, you shouldn't be out here this late at night." Well, Shouta could have definitely started that off better, but he had never really been an eloquent person. He could hear the child giggle from where he stood. It sounded somewhat childish and innocent, but there was something about it that felt really odd. He couldn't really figure out what it was, so he decided to ignore it for now.
"Since your parents don't seem to be around, mind if I join you for a bit?" He watched as the boy slowly turned his head around. He stared at Shouta with his seemingly lifeless emerald eyes. An uncomfortable feeling started settling in the pit of his stomach. No child should have this look in their eyes. He looked so tired, so lifeless. Shouta couldn't help but wonder what caused someone so young to look like this.
A bright smile slowly started forming on the young boy's face and a manic glee spread in his eyes. "Ah, you really don't change dad, do you?" Shouta was stunned. Why did this boy call him dad? Did he mistaken him for someone else?
Just as he was about to voice his question, it seemed like the boy had a suddend realization. His eyes widened slightly and his smiled became less bright although it was still present. "I guess I shouldn't call you that anymore. After all, it's technically our first time meeting. Well, what else should I call you? Humm, how about Aizwa-sensei? No, I guess that won't do since I'm technically not your student anymore. How about Eraser? No, a nickname would be too familiar. I guess I should go with Eraserhead then." The boy simply shrugged while he stood up. A thousand questions were going through Shouta's mind, so much so that he didn't even notice how much closer the boy had gotten to the edge while he was lost in his thoughts.
"Well, I guess it doesn't really matter anymore" The boy smiled brightly, perhaps the brightest smile Shouta had ever seen. However, he realized too late, way too late.
The boy had jumped.
