Work Text:
Jacob wandered around the city. There were so many things for him to see and it was a dream come true to visit. Paris had been one of the first cities to ever catch his eye in the travel books of the school library as a kid. There had been something so magical about the shape of the buildings and the way all the people had dressed in the pictures. Yet he had resigned himself to never getting to see it. He was going to be stuck in Oklahoma his whole life, whether he wanted to be or not.
All of that had changed when he joined the Library. No more was he trapped in his home region. He could go anywhere in the world. And he did. He went so many wonderful places and saw so many thing.
Yet there was something so special about getting to finally go and see the city that had first gotten him to love art. To love the beauty of historic architecture as a little kid.
Sure it was for work at first and he had to stop a magical threat. But once that was taken care of he had the chance to wander. See all the wonderful things that he remembered from that book. He couldn't even bring himself to care that it was all tourist traps around him. That inner child that he was feeding loved it all. All the stereotypical things, all the overdone landmarks, even the food made to appeal to the tourists brought him joy.
One day he would come back and to the more out of the way things. Try and experience more of what the locals did. Stop acting like the small town country boy he was that time and be the proper art historian he lived as now. But he was going to enjoy letting go and healing his inner child. How many times had he helped Cassandra or Ezekiel do the same? More than he could count.
Everything he had ever gone through was worth it for his first look at the Eiffel Tower
