Always Two

Summary:

In Obi-Wan’s defense, Maul had asked for it. He’d literally told Obi-Wan to embrace the dark side. What, exactly, had Maul been expecting Obi-Wan to do?

Cutting off his head was probably pretty low on the list.

Notes:

Okay, so expect this to be written in the manner of Order Six -no set ending in mind, and random scenes with chapters probably less than a thousand words apiece.

Chapter 1: The Plunge

Chapter Text

In Obi-Wan’s defense, Maul had asked for it. He’d literally told Obi-Wan to embrace the dark side. What, exactly, had Maul been expecting Obi-Wan to do?

Cutting off his head was probably pretty low on the list.

But now Obi-Wan stands where Maul had stood, and everything is wrong but perfectly in place. Maul’s lightsaber glows with the color of blood, except it isn’t Maul’s lightsaber but Obi-Wan’s in his hand. Satine’s eyes are still terrified, yet Bo-Katan is triumphant.

Anger and fear roils hot in Obi-Wan’s gut, not the freezing nothing Jedi fight so hard against. Anger at Maul and his Death Watch, fear for not knowing where Bo-Katan and her Death Watch stand. Anger for Satine’s suffering and fear that this act will drive her suffering deeper. Anger at the enemy and fear for the ones he loves.

No. More than that. Anger at himself for the fear. Fearing his love. Emotions drive the Jedi into the dark a step at a time, and Obi-Wan’s plunged himself wholly into them.

   It is… freeing.
