After reuniting with their best friend and successfully rescuing the other biograft in the facility, the Betagraft returned outside with both their friend, and the other biograft. There seemed to be more commotion outside, other than the battle that was already going on.
“WHAT IS GOING ON, SCREENS?” the Betagraft says, looking worriedly at the sobbing demon.
Hologram Screens was their friend too, and the only demon they truly trusted. She was the one that gave them their name, “B-33” she called them.
They had met after Screens hacked into their message system, some time after they had disconnected from Blackrock's main systems after their attempted decommissioning.
“33… we lost… we tried E-EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING TO POSSIBLY STOP THE FAKE BUT… Rainbow Periastron… failed.”
Dread was not an emotion 33 was used to feeling, but upon hearing that they just froze in place in disbelief. They had been told that if the demons failed to defeat them… the fake would have enough power to make all demons extinct in one fell swoop.
“While you were… phighting in Ghostfire's facility… Ghostwalker came to help us stop the fake b-by summoning the spirit of a past Rainbow Periastron to phight them… but he… couldn't… kill the fake.”
The demon continued to cry as the other demons outside began to have breakdowns of their own. Ghostwalker was nowhere to be found either.
33 didn't know how to process any of this. Then turn to their friend behind them, who was looking equally as shocked and terrified.
Their friend, PSN, was the only other sentient biograft they had known until today. They were close before 33 had to leave Blackrock. However, due to her nature as a prototype of a new model, she had to go through frequent testing. She had no time to try and find 33. They spent so long trying to find each other… and today they finally did… but they cannot celebrate like this.
Then the biograft they had just freed from The Fake finally spoke in their distorted voice; “I… HAVE DONE SOMETHING AWFUL… HAVEN'T I?”
33’s despair quickly flips to explosive rage as they whip around to face the biograft.
“YOU THINK? YOU THINK? CROSS. YOU… HELPED RUIN EVERYTHING. MY FRIEND IS GOING TO DIE, AND WE WILL AS WELL. YOU-”
PSN quickly grabs 33 to prevent them from smashing the other into pieces, and before any further violence happened, Screens spoke up again:
“H-hey you th-three. I actually have s-something for you all. Come with me.” She gave them all a weak smile before they all began their journey.
All 3 biografts quickly travel down into the basement of the facility with her. All the while Screens is frantically running something on a few of her many screens, which are being projected out of her gear. Screens always had a natural talent for coding and hacking with her gear…
PSN stops moving, and suddenly releases a distress signal.
And before 33 can even react, PSN is on the ground with a countdown projected in her eyes:
[1,826 D : 43830 HRS : 2629800 MIN]
CROSS follows suit, dropping to the ground with even more horrifying screeching than they normally emit.
“SCREENS? WHAT IS GOING ON… DID YOU… WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THEM!?” B-33 panics, backing away from Screens.
How could the demon that helped them through so much do this…?
Screens is crying even more now as her laser pointer hovers over something on one of her screens.
“L-look B-33, I REALLY REALLY didn't w-want to s-scare any of you… but… this is my last hope. I-i will not survive this, none of us demons will, but… you might. W-whatever happens… maybe… just maybe… biografts like you guys won't be killed too. I-its a shot in the dark but… I have to try. For our sake. I'm so sorry. I'm s-so SO SORRY!”
B-33 is about to say something, when suddenly they're hit with so many error messages that they have to screech out in distress too. They drop to the floor as their systems start to shut down…
“G-goodbye 33. Please don't forget u-us. Please survive.”
Then… it's all just nothing.
[An explosion rocks the facility and the surrounding area, killing everything in its radius instantly. Along with that, the air all around turns deadly to any normal demon. Demons all around the impherno drop dead as soon as they breathe it in. A burning, constricting feeling in the lungs… and then nothing.]
[However, the faker did still retain its powers of revival it was originally given… the explosion released so much energy that it caused every biograft to become aware of themselves. There were no more mindless machines. Every biograft has been accidentally granted… sentience.]
