“ready the soldiers, a coronation is happening in a week.” jay told jake.
“.... we’re also welcoming a prince consort.” he added.
the castle was busy preparing for the most awaited event in years, they were finally going to crown sunghoon as the king.
“do we need to do something for the coronation?” jungwon asks ni-ki while they were getting their clothes fitted.
“not really, we’re just gonna be in front. you’ll sit beside me.”
“but i’m not royalty to sit in front.”
“you’re my bonded one, you’re already a higher rank than any of the vampires attending.”
“really? i don’t feel like i deserve that.”
“you left your human life for me, if there’s anyone who deserves that rank, it would be you.”
this damned prince has a way with words.
the busiest week passed by, and it was finally time for sunghoon’s coronation. jungwon was feeling proud, from the time he has spent here, he definitely saw that he was deserving of that title.
“ready, my solace?” ni-ki says, offering his hand. they both just finished getting dressed up.
jungwon took his hand, and they teleported to the throne room where the event was just starting. all soldiers were there, wearing their uniform.
“where’s heeseung?” jungwon asks.
“you didn’t know?” sunoo asks, who was right beside them.
“apparently not. what happened to him?”
“you’ll see.” jay answers, who was beside sunoo.
jungwon was confused. did heeseung quit as the captain of the army?
“may i request everyone to please stand.” a high ranking council member said, jungwon was not familiar with her, but she was adorned with jewelry, making it obvious she was of a high rank.
“i present to you, crown prince sunghoon of sanguis.” sunghoon then appeared adorned in a beautiful violet robe fit for a king.
“prince consort heeseung of sanguis, captain of the imperial army.”
jungwon almost face palmed himself, of course the new prince consort is heeseung!
“that’s where heeseung hyung is.” ni-ki communicates through his mind.
“does that mean they got married?” jungwon asks ni-ki through his mind.
“not yet, but the kingdom officially recognizes their bond, giving heeseung hyung a much higher rank alongside being the captain of the army.”
“i can’t believe i didn’t put two and two together… it was obvious.”
“that’s fine, my solace. you’re cute when you’re clueless.”
“by the power vested in me by the kingdom of sanguis, i will officially chant the spell to bind you to your kingship.”

“accipio pro rege! (i accept as the king!)” sunghoon responds, symbolizing his coronation.
the energy of the throne hall changed, every vampire in sanguis was now aware of their new king.
“i’m so proud of you.” jay says after the ceremony.
“nothing will change, i’m still me.” sunghoon responds.
“i don’t doubt that hyung.” ni-ki reassures.
the celebration came to an end and everyone slept peacefully, except for one vampire, jake .
morning came and jungwon woke up earlier than ni-ki, he thought it would be a good idea to roam around the gardens, as its the most peaceful early in the morning.
as he was admiring the roses that he planted, he noticed that the air smelled strongly of alcohol. he immediately went and investigated it.
lying near the thorny rose bush, jake was found with an empty bottle of vodka. jungwon didn’t even know vampires could consume alcohol.
“jake? oh my! what happened?”
“your highness…?” jake said, evident that he was tipsy.
“no, just me, jungwon. what happened? can vampires even consume alcohol? what are you doing here?” jungwon continued to ask with concern.
“yeah… but alcohol is poisonous… i can handle it, i’m a hybrid.”
“do you need help? are you okay….?”
“the man that i love….”
“the man that i love is bonded to another one… the king…”
jungwon immediately knew who.
“don’t you have a bonded one?”
“it’s complicated. my bonded one should also be a hybrid like me.”
“i love him, jungwon. i finally knew why he never noticed my advances. how can i compete with a king…? how can i compete with the moon goddess that bonded them?”
“do you want a hug?” jungwon could only offer, he didn’t know how to comfort him.
“sure.”
jungwon gave him a tight long hug, he already knew before that jake had feelings for heeseung, it was evident from his body language.
“you’ll find someone one day…” jungwon reassures while
“yeah, someone who isn’t bonded to another.” ni-ki suddenly said, none of them had notice him standing right behind jungwon.
“y-your highness!” jake immediately breaks the hug, immediately having a bad feeling what’s going to happen next.
jungwon suddenly felt a change in the aura, and in him. he couldn’t reach ni-ki, it was like something was blocking him from feeling ni-ki.
“ni-ki…? calm down…” jungwon could only say.
“what do you think you’re doing, huh?” ni-ki said, grabbing jake by the shoulders, lifting him up.
“ni-ki!” jungwon said, trying to make him drop jake, it was as if ni-ki was not being himself.
“how dare you!” ni-ki shouted and threw jake to the ground, he was taller and stronger when it came to using his strength.
jungwon had to do something, he knew he didn’t know how to stop ni-ki, so he teleported back to the castle to ask for help, but it was a grave mistake. without jungwon by ni-ki’s side, he completely lost control and gave in to his warrior tendencies.
“fight!” ni-ki said, casting two swords for them to duel.
“how dare you touch my solace, huh?” ni-ki said, punching jake.
jake, who was intoxicated, was late to react and was punched hard in the face.
“fight back!” the young prince shouted.
sunoo, jay, and jungwon teleported at the right moment where ni-ki picked up the sword that he casted, ready to strike.
“jake!” sunoo said, tending to jake’s black eye.
jay immediately stopped ni-ki by casting a powerful sleeping spell, causing him to fall to the ground.
“ni-ki!” jungwon says, catching ni-ki’s fall.
“what on god’s green earth happened?!” jay asks.
“i don’t know…. i just couldn’t reach ni-ki, it was like he was blocking me…”
jay immediately knew what happened seeing the empty bottle of vodka.
“let’s go to sunghoon.” jay said and casted a teleportation spell for all of them to go to sunghoon’s room.
“my goodness! what happened?” sunghoon exclaimed at the sight of them.
“i saw jake lying in the garden and i comforted him.. and then ni-ki showed up and it was like he was a different person…”
“i think i know what happened.” sunoo says.
“he’s jealous.” he adds.
jungwon was confused. what does that have to do with ni-ki not acting like himself?
“right… warrior souls experience a different type of jealousy. vampires are naturally possessive, but warrior souls are a different conversation. they feel as if jealousy is a call to war…” sunoo added more.
“my brother is relatively young, and has the most potential to become feral, he can’t control his warrior emotions most of the time, but that’s how warrior souls are. they are always at war with themselves.” sunghoon explained.
“will jake be okay?” jungwon asked.
“we will take care of jake, but for now, stay with ni-ki. this is the first time he lost control, and i’m sure it has taken a toll on his body.” jay says and casts a spell to teleport them back to ni-ki’s room.
jungwon was worried, he finally could feel ni-ki’s emotions again, and it was painful. he understood that this was his nature, and he didn’t know how to control it.
he planted a soft kiss on his forehead and said, “i’m here, my prince, please wake up.”
it was like magic, ni-ki woke up from a dream-like state.
“ni-ki!” jungwon exclaimed and hugged him immediately.
ni-ki was quick to hug him back tighter, the pain in his heart slowly easing.
“are you okay? i can feel your pain.”
“i’m fine now…” ni-ki replies, clinging on to jungwon’s arms.
“you punched jake, you know?”
“oh shit! really? i wasn’t being myself… i’ll go apologize and heal him.”
“your brothers are taking care of it.”
“i’ll apologize myself!” ni-ki said and immediately teleported.
the moment jungwon masters how to use his magic, he’ll also surprise them like that. but for someone who was just converted to vampirism, he think he’s doing a good job at adjusting.
suddenly, thunder was heard. jungwon looked outside, and it was raining! he didn’t even know when the last time he saw rain. he immediately teleported to the palace garden, wanting to dance in the rain.
jungwon felt the rain drops, oh how he missed this… he missed feeling a bit human.
“jungwon! what are you doing?” ni-ki said as soon as he teleported to the garden.
“join me, ni-ki!” he says and extends his arm to invite the young prince.
their fingers intertwined as they dance around the garden in the rain.
“in the human world, they dance in the rain. usually, couples are the one to do this.” jungwon said as he continued to sway and dance in the rain.
ni-ki loved it whenever jungwon would teach him about the human world.
“jungwon… you’re glowing… you’re really happy about the rain?”
“i am. i missed this. i missed feeling a little human.”
“i’m sorry i took that away from you.”
“ni-ki, i made that decision all by myself. we can not change fate.”
“but you could be a normal human, and live a normal life. instead, you’re out here adjusting to being a vampire world and have a warrior as your soulmate.”
“and i wouldn’t want it any other way.” jungwon says and closes the gap between him and ni-ki’s lips, kissing him softly.
ni-ki responded to the kiss softly, not fighting for dominance this time. this was the first time he kissed jungwon tenderly.
“jungwon…” ni-ki broke the kiss, catching his breath. he put his hand on jungwon’s lips, admiring his soulmate’s beauty.
“i want you…” the prince shyly says.
the rain pouring over them made it more intimate, strangely enough.
“you have me, my prince. i’m yours. only yours.”
and all at once, that was what prince ni-ki wanted to hear from jungwon.
