Work Text:
Hawks seriously needed to catch up.
He had been continuously distracted by cafes, shops, video games, new anime, and his fans on the way to the building. So much so that someone who may be named MalaMari could write 4 chapters, each over 6,000 words long in the timespan he was gone. And the chapters would always come out while Hawks was out of the house, so he always forgot to head to the HPSC after them. He felt so guilty that he left Eri there for that long!
Anyway, as he flew to the HPSC building, he realized how flawed his plan was. He didn’t have any new info on the villains, meaning that the HPSC, his best friends, could figure out he was a clone and kill him!
So, the next plan of action was to fly to the LOV base and snag his own notes on the League! Though, he would have to be careful about not letting Hawks the First’s villainous opinions sway him. He had to be Eri’s knight in shining armor!
As he did a very sharp U-Turn in the air, he saw OG Hawks and Dabi walking to- gasp, The Shie Hissekai Base?! What was he planning on doing there?!
No matter, He had to focus on not being caught. Hawks landed on a building hopefully out of sight and then stealthily made his way from there until he was 100% out of view. He then began flying again, this time being much more careful.
As he perched on a tree outside the house, he peered inside the windows. The Nomu was cleaning the hallway that had led to what Hawks remembered to be his room. Meaning that Hawks would have to stealth through the window.
He jumped through the open window. Seriously, how could he be so stupid to leave the window open? Hawks scoffed at The Original’s stupidity. Not that he would ever be so dumb. I mean, how did he ever get hired to be on the mission?
No matter. He would steal the journal and files that Hawks had made on the League and bring them back to the HPSC building, then it would enstate their trust in him despite being a clone, so then he could take down the League, MLA, and Shie Hissekai in one fell swoop- argh! Bird Pun not intended.
He began to rummage through the drawers, grabbing his much-bigger-since-he-last-saw-it journal. He snatches the files and then yippies quietly, pumping his fist in the air. He almost did a little dance.
Until he saw Eri through the little crack in the door. He almost went out there and saved her, when-
his toe stubbed on the door frame.
His toe. His toe, that he had always been careful to not touch anything ever.
Stubbed. An action he had been avoiding since his birth in the car garage.
On the door frame. Which should always be protected- had been protected, when he was in his own home.
As he felt his form melting, he thought back on everything he had achieved. Or, what he had thought he had achieved. He had realized.. That he never made a difference. All he had done was theorize, and when he had finally acted, he had been so distracted that he finally failed.
It was all over. And he had never done anything, nothing worthwhile.
He never even made it to the canon. Maybe OG Hawks would step in his remains next chapter, so at least he would have dirtied that villain’s boots.
