Work Text:
A young Princess Céline hummed as she skipped along the flower filled path of her garden. She loved playing amongst the flowers, but the thing was, Céline was almost always playing alone. She had an older brother, Alfred, whom she barely saw. Her mother would constantly decline Céline's pleas for him to come out and play, saying that he "needed his rest." One time, Céline tried sneaking into his room at night, but was caught by her mother. Instead of telling the princess to go back to bed, she led her into Alfred's room where the young prince lay. The little princess got excited and ran up to her brother's sleeping form.
"Mommy, why does he sleep so much?" she asked loudly.
Her mother made a "shush" noise with her lips and ran a hand through Céline's soft hair. "Alfred is very sick. It does not take long before he gets very sleepy. He does not have the same energy as you do, my dear." Céline stared at the sleeping boy, who probably would have stirred at her yelling if he wasn't so sick. She took note of how tired her brother looked, how red his cheeks were, and how fast he was breathing for someone who was sleeping. Céline reached out and patted her brother on the head.
"It's okay." she whispered to him. Her mother smiled at the sight. "When you start to feel better, I can teach you all sorts of fun games to play. Then we can play together!"
The queen of Firené nodded in agreement. "I think he'd like that very much."
