Littlest Horn Buddy

Summary:

Eri’s made a lot of progress with her quirk lately but she’s still a little nervous about it, so she asks someone she thinks can relate to her for advice.

Notes:

This whole thing started as a little challenge between me and PropheticHose, I wanted to trade ideas and see how we did with each other’s ideas, so I traded him my idea of Izuku seeing Eri become the number one hero but he tweaked it to her winning the Sports Festival, and he traded me Eri talking with Mina about her quirk because they both have horns.

Work Text:

Mina fluffed her hair and shook her head as she grinned at the mirror.

“Perfect! He’s gonna love this!” She declared confidently.

She and Ejiro finally had the time for a date night and she was gonna make sure she rocked his world. Her best dress, her best makeup, her best perfume, everything was going Go Beyond, Plus Ultra. Was that what her teachers intended with that saying? Probably not, save for probably Midnight sensei, but she would apply that logic all the sa-

Her thoughts were soon interrupted by the sound of a text from her favorite himbo.

Horn Buddy: Hey Mina! Midoriya is bringing Eri up to the dorms for a visit, do you mind if we say hi for a minute before we go?

Mina grinned. While Midoriya and Togata Senpai were the closest to the little cutie, pretty much the entire hero course loved her, especially Tsu, Ochako, Ejiro, Amajiki Senpai, and Hado Senpai who were all part of the mission up save her.

Alien Queen: That sounds great babe! I’ll see you in a few minutes!

Another small thing to make this great night even better.

Ejiro took a deep breath as he finally caught a look at Mina’s dress. A glittery pink number that hugged her body tight and showed off her legs and exposed her arms but was in no danger of being given a disapproving look from Aizawa sensei. The cherry on top? A crimson scarf to go with it.

“God, you’re perfect.” He murmured.

Mina loved when he smiled at her. He always made her feel like the most incredible thing in the world.

“You’re not so bad yourself Mr. Red Riot.” Mina teased, shaking her head at his casual dress. A muscle t and some jean shorts. She loved this meathead.

“Sorry about the outfit, I thought we were just gonna go to an amusement park.” Ejiro admitted, looking a bit embarrassed.

Mina was about to say it was fine when she felt a tugging on her dress’s skirt. She looked down to find a certain one horned cutie. She grinned down at her and picked her up. “Why don’t you throw on something fancy while I get to know our littlest horn buddy?” The sunshine alien teased, giving her boyfriend a wink.

Ejiro grinned and walked off.

“So kiddo, what can I do for you?” Mina asked, smiling brightly at her new little friend as she squatted down to look her in the eyes.

“Miss Pinky, have you ever…” Eri trailed off, she looked nervous.

“Have I ever what, sweetie?” Mina asked, her smile turning gentle as she pulled a bit of hair from the sweet girl’s adorable face.

Eri took a deep breath. “Have you ever… Hurt someone with your power?”

Mina looked surprised but nodded. “I have. I used to hurt people by accident but I learned how to control it better. Now I can make my acid strong enough to melt through anything or only as strong as a glass of Orange Juice and anything in between. The key was learning how my power worked and how to control it.” The older girl explained, her voice maintaining a comforting tone. “Why do you ask?”

Eri pointed to her horn then pointed to Mina’s. The older girl’s reassuring grin turned wider and more playful.

“You really are our littlest horn buddy.” She teased, tickling the small girl.

Eri let out a giggle as she tried to swat away her pink friend’s hands. “Stop that!” She protested as she kept laughing.

Mina relented, gently pulling her hands away. “But seriously, if you’re scared about hurting people, you can talk to me about your quirk. I know my acid isn’t the same as making things rewind but what they have in common is that while they can both hurt people, they can also help people. I could accidentally burn someone's skin off, you could rewind someone until they don’t exist anymore, but my acid can also melt a bunch of concrete so that someone trapped underneath it can escape, so maybe with enough practice you could rewind all that concrete back to being just a regular building?”

Eri’s face turned thoughtful as she considered Mina’s words. She smiled up at the alien girl. “I can do it! I can get super good with my quirk until I-“ The young girl paused and made a confused face.

“What’s wrong sweetie?” Mina asked.

“How do I get so good with my quirk?” Eri asked.

Mina’s face mirrored her little horn buddy’s expression. That was a good question. “Try it with food!” She gasped, suddenly running into the kitchen. “You could rewind a fresh apple until it’s just seeds or a rotten one until it’s fresh again. Or toss a bag of popcorn in the microwave then rewind it until the bag is unpopped again!”

Eri nodded, her eyes wide with realization. These were brilliant ideas.

“Then toss it back in the microwave and have yourself a snack.” Mina teased, going back to tickling the unicorn girl.

Eri let out more giggles as she weakly swatted at the older girl’s hands. “Please stop Miss Pinky!” She laughed.

Mina laughed and pulled her hands away again. “Sorry, sorry, you’re just too cute to not do that.” The alien joked.

Eri smiled but looked like she was thinking. “Do you think I could be a hero, Miss Pinky?”

“I think you can be anything you want to be, especially a hero!” Mina grinned, ruffling Eri’s hair.

Eri giggled and tried to fix her hair.

“Please tell me you’re teaching my soon to be baby sister good things.” Izuku teased, walking into the room with a playful expression as he scooped the younger girl into his arms.

“Soon to be?” Mina repeated, looking amused.

“Yep! Eraser’s decided that Eri’s made enough progress with her quirk that she doesn’t need to be watched by him anymore, so my mom’s legally adopting her.”

Mina’s face went wide with joy. “Oh my gosh! Midoriya! That’s so wonderful!”

“I completely agree.” Izuku replies, smiling proudly at his baby sister as the unicorn snuggled into his shoulder.

“Midoriya’s adopting Eri?! That’s so manly!” Ejiro hollered out gleefully, coming up behind Mina and wrapping her up in a surprise hug.

Mina let out a surprised squeal. “Babe! Please put me down!”

“And how do you like it!” Eri hollered out with a big smirk.

“I promise I won’t tickle you anymore! If you tell him to put me down!” The alien laughed, letting Eri get her payback.

“What do you think, Eri? Should I let Miss Pinky go?” Ejiro teased.

Izuku playfully rolled his eyes while Eri pretended to think for a moment. “Okay Mr. Riot, you can let her go.”

“As you wish!” Ejiro replied, gently setting his girlfriend down.

Izuku shook his head. “Was this really because she kept tickling you?” He asked, biting back a smirk.

“Yes.” Eri replied, not a hint of remorse in her voice.

“Heaven help your friends if they ever tease you.” Izuku chuckled.

“Attagirl I say.” The alien girl encouraged, grinning widely.

“Weren’t you just on the receiving end of her vengeance?” Izuku laughed.

“I was but rule number one of being a friend who likes to tease people is always be prepared for when payback comes. If anything, it makes the game more fun!”

“Speaking of fun, you ready to go babe?” Ejiro asked.

Mina turned around to finally get a good look at Ejiro’s outfit. A black suit jacket and dress pants with a red button up shirt and tie with a pink handkerchief in his pocket. He looked absolutely perfect.

“Why are guys so dressed up anyway? I thought you were going to an amusement park?” Izuku asked.

“We are! But I thought it would be fun if we dressed up for the date anyway!”

Izuku shook his head. “Well you guys have a good time. I’m heading out to my mom’s house to drop off Eri and see if she likes spending the night with us.”

“Sleepover time!” Eri cheered.

“Have fun sweetie! And remember what I said about your quirk. Just because you can hurt, doesn’t mean you can’t heal. And just because you can break something, doesn’t mean you can’t fix it too. You have an amazing power and there’s no need to be scared of it.”

Eri nodded. “I’m gonna start practicing tonight when we make popcorn!”

“You’re gonna start practicing with your quirk, Eri? That’s great!”

“Mina is so manly when it comes to making people feel good about themselves!” Ejiro grinned.

Eri blinked in confusion then looked at her brother and then the older girl.

“It’s his thing sweetie, just go with it.” Mina giggled, kissing her ridiculous boyfriend on the cheek. “Have a nice night you two.”

“You too Miss Pinky! Bye bye!”

“Bye horn buddy!”
