Work Text:
Gunnar's wedding was in full swing: the residents were having fun, drinking mead and singing songs. Gunnar and Brigitte sat at the table and had a nice conversation and talked about their future lives. Eivor was walking and talking with her friends. But suddenly a silhouette flashed among the guests, and Eivor headed towards the silhouette. The silhouette led the Wolf-kissed away from the wedding and disappeared from view. The warrior began to look for him until a familiar Saxon appeared in her eyes.
- Alfred, what are you doing here? - asked Eivor, clearly not happy with the meeting with the king of the West Saxons.
- I see that you are not happy with me, - Alfred grinned.
- Your secrets again? - Wolf-kissed snorted.
- I didn’t come here to challenge you. I came here to talk to you, - the king calmly explained. Alfred led Eivor to the river.
- Well, tell me, Alfred, what did you want to tell me? - Eivor was waiting for an answer.
- Eivor, you and I are not such different people, - Alfred said quietly.
- What do you mean? Are you trying to force me to accept Christianity again? - the Wolf-kissed did not believe.
- I'm not talking about Christianity. I’m talking about something else, - the king convinced him.
- What exactly? - Eivor wanted to know.
- I may hate pagans, but with you I feel peace and comfort, - Alfred admitted. - But I cannot proclaim among the Saxons, because they will not understand me.
- I was also silent, so as not to betray my brother and the people. But that doesn't mean I don't want to be with you. Are you surprised? - Eivor admitted. There was no surprise on Alfred's face. He walked up to her and, putting his arm around Eivor’s neck, kissed her on the lips.
- You have become closer to my heart, - Alfred admitted.
- Is this the first time I’ve heard from a saxophone. Maybe I'm drunk? - Eivor didn’t believe it.
- No, this is not a dream or delirium, Eivor, - the king assured and kissed Eivor again. Eivor wrapped her arms around Alfred's waist and kissed him passionately.
- Let this be a dream that will never end, - whispered the Wolf-kissed.
- You and I will never wake up, - Alfred added. Eivor and Alfred kissed again, but their kiss was interrupted by screams.
- Eivor, where are you?!
- I have to go, Alfred. It seems our sleep has been interrupted, - Eivor said.
- But we can continue it, - Alfred stroked the Norwegian’s cheek. Eivor returned to her clan. She hoped to meet Alfred again.
