Tengai was so finished, and not even a day had passed.
This was a cruel fate disposed upon him for supporting Overhaul and his acts of violence, he was sure of it. The two League members were insane. One of them was a blood obsessed teenage girl who was oddly obsessed with Rappa. The other was an insane man who contradicted himself at every word.
“Tengai. Hey, Tengai.” Toga poked him. He was in the middle of meditating, which had become harder and harder in the past week. He thought he had finally found a moment of peace, until the manic teen had barged into the-
“Why are you in the men’s bathroom?”
“I’m looking for Jin. Or maybe Rappa. And I thought this was the best place to start! Until I found you here.” She pouted, twirling a knife on her finger. Tengai’s eyes floated over to the lock on the bathroom stall. It had been severed open.
“And you just barged into the one locked stall? Without knocking or asking who was in it?” He could feel his eye twitching. “Whatever. No one else is in here, I made sure of it. Now, run along.”
“No! You gotta help me, because everyone I actually like is missing, and I don’t wanna ask Overhaul or Nemoto for help. Plus, you probably know all the best hiding places. Also, why’re you hanging out in the bathroom?”
“Because of this exact reason.” Tengai muttered. “Fine. I will offer my assistance, on the condition that you leave me alone for the rest of the day.”
“Deal! Now come on, come on!” Toga dragged him out of the bathroom. Tengai sighed, as he showed her around the place.
“This is the crying corner. You’re mentally unstable comrade would like it here, considering it’s quiet, and dark, and-”
“Well he’s not here! Why do you guys have a crying corner anyway?! Is Overhaul that much of a jerk?” She squealed, throwing the first pillow she could get ahold of. Tengai quickly put up a shield, and set the pillow back in its place.
“Everyone here is atleast a little bit neurodivergent. Overstimulation is uncommon, but this is a wonderful place to de-stress.” Tengai sighed. “Come along.”
“This is the training area, a.k.a the fighting ring. It’s actually a very nice place, other than on Thursdays.” Tengai said, as he opened the door to a large concrete room. There was a large chalk circle in the center, as well as a scoreboard on the wall.
“What happens on Thursdays?” Toga said, cocking her head.
“Rappa hosts fighting matches and everyone’s forced to join, or else Overhaul will turn him into mush again. And it just grosses everyone out when he does that.”
“Ewwwwwwww. But also fun! I wanna join next time.”
“Mark your calendar. It’s usually every week, unless Overhaul has other plans.” Tengai said, purposefully scuffing up the chalk circle to make it more of a hassle. “If you don’t want to fight, just step out of the ring at the start of your round. It’s what I do most of the time, for unnecessary violence is a sin.”
“You’re weird, Tengai. But neither of them are here! I’m worried that Overhaul’s experimenting on Twice. ‘Cause he’s a weirdo.”
“Twice or Overhaul?”
“Shut up.” Toga pouted. She seemed truthfully upset and worried. She was clenching her fists at her sides.
Tengai put a hand on the young girl’s shoulders. “I’m sure they’re both alright. We’ll check one more spot, and then we can ask Overhaul.”
As they were walking down the hallway, they were suddenly jumped by a familiar black blur.
“Toga! Oh my god, I’ve been looking all over for you! I couldn’t care less! ” Twice exclaimed, suddenly jumping out from a hallway.
“Jin! Where have you been!” Toga huffed, giving him an unamused face. Though, Tengai could feel that she wasn’t actually angry. Just super worried.
“I got totally lost. I always know where I’m going. These hallways are so confusing!” Twice exclaimed, scratching his head.
“Do you want a map?” Tengai said, producing one from his yukata. He always had one or two on hand just in case.
“wOAH! Map god, you have saved me. How shall I repay you for this act of ethereal kindness? ” The masked villain kneeled before him, before jumping back up again. “ I don’t owe you anything! ”
Tengai just nodded calmly, handing the map over to him. “Don’t lose it, or you will risk endangering this entire operation.”
“Thanks, Tengai, or whatever. Come on, Twice! Let’s rig the fighting ring.”
