    For the rest of dinner, neither of them spoke, and she was content to keep it that way. Zenos had already promised her tomorrow… So he knew the enemy was at the gates, and he would escort her back to her starting line. It did not suit him to lie.
    What else had they to say to each other? He frightened her, and she… Well, she imagined she excited him, on a purely physical level. Her tenacity, as she understood it, her capability as an arcanist, a skilled healer, and yet she would stand to fight him and survive… It excited him to no end. There were some truths that needed no words to be understood.
