Work Text:
There’s something rejuvenating about being close to the people you care about. That’s the first thing Bo-Katan realizes after Din Djarin and Din Grogu leave Mandalore.
She doesn’t know when the shift happened, but at some point, her body and soul became so used to their presence that the absence of them feels like a mortal loss.
Though she knows they are both alive and well, her heart can’t bear the distance the same way it once could.
She feels the separation from them in everything. In the oppressively quiet nights, in the lonely and uneventful meals, in the monotonous council meetings when she longs to look to Din to exchange knowing glances to be discussed later.
It’s why, when she receives the alert that an N-1 has broken atmosphere, she rushes to the makeshift landing area to greet them. Her heart light and her chest warm for the first time in months.
It’s why, when she takes them back to her simple quarters, in the still under construction palace, she finds it impossible to be more than an arm's length away from them. Her body drawn to them, craving the nearness of the two people who have come to mean so much to her.
And it’s why, when they leave again a few short days later, she feels as though her heart leaves with them. The loss immediate and overwhelming.
The next thing Bo-Katan realizes after Din Djarin and Din Grogu leave Mandalore, is that she no longer feels like herself without them.
