Holy SHIT this is good! I really loved how the clues lined up, so I always knew more than Sam at any given moment, but her search for more information still left plenty to be revealed to us both at the same time. The blend really hit a sweet spot for me. I suspect a reread would also be a delight in this area, since some clues would pop out with context. The last quarter or so was really emotionally affecting, and I needed some sob breaks. (I mayyyy have needed some sob breaks earlier too.) For my own satisfaction I think I'd like an epilogue, but the story definitely doesn't suffer from the choice to leave a little ambiguity at the end (I think there's enough context to make plenty of well-educated guesses anyway - the ambiguity feels gentle).
