Luke pulled the dappled seal skin from his duffle bag just enough to show Percy that he had it. “Yes. We.” He genuinely regretted doing this. It would have been better if Percy agreed of his own free will. But Luke couldn't leave Percy at Camp Half-Blood. Not with what was coming.
Shock, horror, and finally grief crossed Percy's face. His expression crumpled into disappointment. “Luke, don't do this. Give me back my skin.”
The look on Percy’s face was killing Luke. It felt like a stab to the heart. “I'm sorry but you don't have a choice,” Luke said.
