“Left,” Ace says, teeth slightly bared. “I don’t-”
“He was our king, Ace. Our captain. Would you let someone speak against yours?”
Such a little spitfire, and maybe Shanks does have a type; to be teased and ignored on that edge of too-mean. Perhaps it’s the barbs that have drawn him to Ace, and if it is then he can hardly blame himself for wanting to draw them out.
“If he’s the king you’re royal, you know,” Shanks teases, and Ace’s lip curls.
“Great, pirate prince. That’ll be such a cool epithet.”
“Aw, I was thinking maybe more like…” he moves, finally, and pushes Ace to sprawl on the floor so he can get a better angle into Ace’s shorts. “Princess."
