A Late Night With The Devil

Summary:

Radioapple week is here!

I decided to join with some silly one-shots! (all unrelated)

Prompts: Late Night/Early Morning

I chose Late Night! This is just a very lovey-dovey routine night of these two idiots.

Enjoy!

Notes:

This prompt took so long to come up to idk why.

I love music, but this is not fully inspired by one. However, I was listening on The Alchemy by Taylor Swift on repeat when writing this.

Again, not relevant in this story but a detail I wanted to add if you wanted some music to read to!

Happy radioapple week! Let's begin.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It was late at night in the Hazbin Hotel, all the lights were out and the corridors were silent, except for the kitchen where a certain radio demon was boiling water for his late-night tea. Humming a song as he prepared two cups, he took out his pocket watch, it was almost one in the morning. He continued humming as he waited for the water, deciding that chamomile would be the right choice today, so he put a packet on each cup. He also took a small milk pitcher from one of the counters and filled it with milk. When the kettle began to whistle, he put out the fire and poured the water into both cups, one full and the other half full, sweetening it with a spoonful of honey.

He placed everything on a tray and dissolved into his shadows, manifesting in a room that was clearly not his own. The furniture and walls were covered in gold, red, and white patterns. There were also some circus decorations, such as a tea set with an elephant as a kettle and a music box in the shape of a merry-go-round. There were also a respectable (or not) number of rubber ducks in various sizes and outfits on the shelves. Although it was a fun and soothing exercise for his partner, the sheer number of them took Alastor some time to organize. He tried to work through these depressive episodes with the king, so that he could communicate with him rather than sink into endless creation.

Speaking of which, in the far corner of the room, the King sat at his desk, his coat resting on the chair, his hair disheveled and his sleeves rolled up. Whatever he was doing, he was so focused that he failed to notice Alastor manifesting in his room.

Alastor put down the tray on his nightstand and approached the small angel. He put his hands on the king’s shoulders, startling the man a little but making him feel instantly at ease. Alastor leaned in, nuzzling his hair and placing his head next to his ear.

“Darling, it's one in the morning. You have a meeting with the sins tomorrow. You need to rest.” he said wrapping his arms around Lucifer’s shoulders. His angel laid his head on one of his arms and stroked it gently.

“Do I really have to?” He asked locking eyes with the demon “I’m almost finished with Charlie’s birthday present. You know I want it to be perfect.”

"Well, my little apple, her birthday is a week away, and you said it yourself. It's almost done, right?" he placed a kiss on Lucifer's cheek. He nuzzled his angel's hair again, making the king chuckle a little. "I'm sure you'll finish it before then,"

"We're in a touchy mood today, aren't we?" the king asked. When it came to physical contact, his partner had moods. And while at this point in their relationship the barrier with him was mostly down, there were days when the deer man didn't want to be touched at all, which he respected. But today didn't feel like one of those days.

"If that's going to make you come to bed with me early, then so be it," Alastor said placing a kiss on his angel forehead and retiring to the bed “Plus your tea will get cold and I refuse to bring it to your desk” giving his traditional smile back to his partner.

Lucifer sighed “Okay love, I’m coming” he responded as he got up from his desk, making sure nothing had fallen during his work and switching up his clothes to pajamas with a snap.

Alastor nodded happily and changed as well. The king lay down on the side of the bed opposite him while he finished his lover's tea with the milk he had brought from the kitchen. He handed it to his angel.

"Oh, is it chamomile?" he asked, and Alastor nodded as he sat down on the bed and took a sip, Lucifer did the same and looked a little displeased with the aftertaste.

"Did you use honey instead of sugar?" the king asked, resting the cup on his lap and frowning slightly.

"Well, yes, your majesty, I wouldn't want to add to your insomnia by giving you a sugar rush." It was true, Lucifer loved sugary foods and wouldn't stay still for a second after an apple pie or an overly-sweetened tea. Alastor wanted him to rest, not spend the rest of the night staring at the ceiling and overthinking things.

"First of all, I can sleep well thank you very much, and second `your majesty`? You haven’t called me that in months!” he complained taking another sip of his tea and placing it on his nightstand.

"Well, my dear, you sounded a little demanding there, as if I had misplaced your order, so yes. Anything else, your majesty? A massage? Shall I remake your tea and repent of my actions in removing sugar from your diet?" he said with a mocking tone as he picked up a book from his bedside table.

Lucifer rolled his eyes “Dumbass, you know I didn’t mean it like that” he said, picking up his cup again and taking another sip, the milk adding to the sugary taste he craved, but deep down he knew Alastor was right, he would probably think of all the things he needed to fix or add to Charlie's gift. He just had to make it perfect.

Alastor chuckled looking at Lucifer from the corner of his eye, his silly little angel could be stubborn, but he loved him this way. "I know, I know, I'm teasing," he said reassuring him it was nothing too serious. "Now please do rest" his gaze returned to his book.

Lucifer finished his tea and looked back at Alastor, he couldn't help but give him a tender look. If someone had told him ten months ago that he would be dating the radio demon, he would have laughed in their face and even given them a tip for such a ridiculous idea. But here he was, sharing a bed with him, deeply in love.

It was a strange courtship, from verbal and physical altercations to quiet mornings and daily gossip. Until he realized he wanted nothing more than to hold the man and never let go. But because the other rejected romanticism, he decided never to confess. Until one drunken night when he accidentally spilled his feelings and sent the deer running away for a week. He never expected him to reciprocate. But Lucifer was proven wrong when Alastor returned and suddenly kissed him in the hallway and disappeared into his shadows, only to reappear and give him another one, a little longer this time, making out with the angel until Lucifer created a portal to his room, pulling the demon in with him.

After what felt like an eternal making-out session they had a conversation in which Alastor confessed that he had never felt anything like this before and that he had some boundaries he was not sure he could ever cross with a partner. Lucifer reassured him that it didn't matter to him. He liked Alastor beyond the physical, there was something about the sinner that made his heart flutter in a way it hadn't in a long time. He knew in those months of bickering friendship that despite his hard exterior and murderous tendencies, Alastor was a kind and caring man to those he loved the most. So, he wanted to give a chance to this relationship.

And they did.

Seven months into their relationship, they wanted nothing more than to be close to each other. Lucifer was overly caring and loving, which Alastor had to get used to, as the angel would jump to a kiss or hold his hand under the table. He didn't mind, but this was all very new to him, and Lucifer was a hopeless romantic. The radio demon, on the other hand, had expressed his love in small ways, like leaving flowers and snacks on Lucifer's desk. Or writing a note in the morning when he had to get up before the king. He also tried his best so his angel wouldn't overthink and sink back into a depressive episode. He doubts himself a lot and it worries him. Lucifer hoped he could just get better for him by magic, but he knew love alone couldn't cure a mental illness. And Alastor understood this, but he was always there to listen, talk, or anything Lucifer needed in those moments, and he was so grateful for that.

“Everything alright darling?” Alastor asked, snapping Lucifer out of his thoughts as he shook his head, "Yeah, yeah! Sorry, I was just thinking." He then without a warning lay on top of the demon, startling him a little, wrapping his arms around his lover and burying his head in the deer's chest, smiling.

"Are you sure?" the demon asked, turning his head curiously at the sudden fall, returning his book to a drawer on his bedside table and putting away his monocle.

"Yes, I was just thinking how lucky I am to have you," Lucifer said happily, tightening his grip.

Alastor couldn't help but blush at the statement, covering his face with a hand but smiling anyway, well, he always smiled, but this was genuine.

“You silly angel” he managed to say.

"I love you too," Lucifer said, lifting his head to look back at him with a smile that could melt. He was truly the most beautiful being in all of creation and Alastor couldn't deny it, especially now that God's favorite angel had chosen to be his.

He pulled Lucifer into a kiss and his angel moved closer, wrapping his arms around his shoulders and deepening their connection. They made out for a couple of minutes, both unwilling to let go until Alastor pulled away and looked at the clock on his bedside table.  Lucifer groaned in disapproval and went for another kiss as the demon looked back at him.

"Lucifer, you need to sleep, it's almost two in the morning," the radio demon said, cupping the angel's face and tracing his lips with his thumb.

"Well, the kiss was kind of your fault," Lucifer pouted, Alastor chuckled and gave his partner a soft peck on the lips. "I'm aware of that, that's why I stopped, now please let's get some rest," he placed another kiss on Lucifer's forehead and guided his head back to his chest. Lucifer protested a little but went along and hugged him. The demon turned off the light with a snap and settled into his pillow.

There was only silence, and he hugged his little angel and closed his eyes, he felt so at peace when they were close at night, his own thoughts could rest. He had only ever felt this warmth from his own mother when he was alive. There was no doubt that he truly loved and trusted Lucifer, and though he didn't say it much, he hoped he showed it enough.

"Al, can you wake me up tomorrow with a kiss?" his angel interrupted his thoughts, his voice sounding sleepy.

"Sleep my angel and I will do it in the morning," he said, running his finger through the blond locks and holding him closer.

Lucifer snuggled closer and they both fell asleep.
