Work Text:
The night was hot. standing by the counter near the open window wasn't enough. you needed something cold, maybe a glass of water with ice. or maybe you just needed another glass of wine.
sometimes a cold breeze came in through the window, rocking your hair, gently stroking your warm cheeks, making you smile. you were humming a music while getting little sips from your glass. the sweet taste of the wine invading your mouth, pulling a low moan from your throat.
you felt a pair of gentle (and teasing) eyes looking at you, a tiny smile spreading on your face when you noticed. another cold breeze entered the kitchen, making your summer dress raise a bit. you grumbled, your hands fighting the fabric that was supposed to cover your tights but now was almost leaving your low body naked.
“do you need any help my love?” osamu asked from his spot near the oven. he was concentrated on cooking dinner until ten minutes ago, when he spared you a glance and caught your drunk eyes looking back at him. and now, when he looking back at you, seeing you trying to get you dress back in place, osamu couldn't help but laugh a bit. “you seem to be in a rough fight there” he joked, immediately going back to what he was cooking.
you looked at his broad back, sparing him a glance that could kill. “shut up samu.” even without looking at you, he knew that your lips would be in a little pout that he really wanted to kiss away. “it's so hot in here” you complained, laying your head on the top of the counter searching for any cold relief.
“it's not darling” he said, still not paying you much attention. thinking now, he was the one to blame after all. the wine was his idea first, and he kind of regretted it at this moment, even though you seemed really happy and relaxed with all the alcohol running inside your body. “you're hot”, osamu played.
you smirked, happy to hear the double meaning behind your boyfriend's sentence. finally, you decided to leave your spot by the counter, making your way to osamu. your arms were quickly around his waist, your hands sliding inside his sweatpants pocket. “well, thank you samu, i think you're hot too” you said, kissing the side of his face.
you sighed in relief when your warm face rested on osamu's shoulder. okay, maybe the night wasn't hot at all. maybe you were the one who were hot. “why did you let me drink so much, babe?” you whined.
“thought you were a big girl that could handle a lit bit of alcohol, sorry to overestimate ya” he said, finally turning the stove off and turning to face you. he smiled at you, patting his hair back off his face so he could see your glossy staring at him.
a pout was forming on your lips again. “i'm a big girl samu” you whined, crossing your arms over your chest. “but i was anxious.”
osamu laughed loud. really, you were so cute when drunk, he couldn't hold himself. he remembered early, when both of you were at the supermarket getting everything he would need to cook dinner. you were nervous, playing with your ring to distract yourself. if he had to be honest, osamu thought that you were anxious for any reason at all, but for you, finally meeting his brother was a special occasion.
“what if he doesn't like me samu?” damn, you were so worried you felt like you would pass out at the grocery hall.
“he's a little shit, his opinion doesn't count on anything, especially his opinion about you” even though he was trying to calm you down, his sentence only made you even more worried.
you looked at him in full shock, your mouth wide open. “why are you saying that? do you think he's not gonna like me?” you asked, already thinking what you could do to be better, so atsumu would approve you.
osamu had definitely fucked up. he could see fear shining bright in your eyes, he wanted to slap himself for making you feel like you weren't good enough.
of course stupid tsumu would like you. he would adore you, even. you were the sweetest person on earth, you were also funny and pretty. like, gorgeous. actually, he wasn't sure that he really wanted you to meet his brother, because tsumu will, for sure, without no doubt, flirt with you, only to piss osamu off, and he certainly couldn't handle this situation without actually punching his twin.
even though osamu was sure that atsumu would adore you, he still made you feel insecure about yourself. he had to correct himself. “of course not baby, you're the perfect girl, i'm sure that he will be jealous of me because i'm so lucky to have the most incredible girlfriend in the whole universe” samu said, hugging you and totally forgetting that you were still at a public space. “the prettiest” kiss. “funniest” kiss. “smartest” kiss. “with the best personality” kiss. “the bests cheeks to poke on” poke. “the best ass t-”.
he was all over you now, almost making you two turn into the same person with how close he was. “stop samu! i got it!” you said, laughing and pushing him off. honestly, how could he be kissing you like that in the middle of the grocery.
you hear a giggle behind osamu, quickly looking over his shoulder to see what was happening. apparently, you and your boyfriend were happening. an elderly couple were laughing looking right at you two, the lady saying to her husband (or at least you presumed they were married): 'it's so good to see people in love. i miss when we were young and playful like that'.
at the same second, you felt your cheeks burning up, quickly getting away from osamu and his devious kisses. the little devil even had the courage to laugh at your embarrassed face. “you're gonna pay me for that. not today, but one day.” you said, pushing your boyfriend away from the couple.
“sure baby, whatever you want” he answered, not actually taking your message too serious (you're going to make him regret this).
looking at the wine shelf, osamu thought that it would be a good idea to buy a wine for you two to share, this way, he could help you relax a bit, and he could also cook something to go with the wine.
except that you had drunk almost the entire bottle by yourself. well, osamu should have predicted that. 'i'm just a girl' you would always say whenever you drink a little too much, your tipsy mind trying it best to form a proper excuse.
the doorbell took osamu out of his thoughts, atsumu had finally arrived. looking at you, he realized that his plan had actually gone right. even though his brother was only some feet away, you seemed calm and relaxed. “do you want me to open the door while you finish your business?” you asked, referring to the food that was still inside the oven. osamu just shook his head, slowly taking your arms off his waist.
on the other side of the door, atsumu was wondering how you would be like. your appearance, your personality. osamu was a nice person, he would always help the elderly at the supermarket, he never passed by a street dog without giving it a scratch on the head. he was also hardworking, the onigiri miya bring the proof itself. not that atsumu would ever admit anything like this to his twin, but he had to make sure that his brother's girlfriend was just as nice as osamu was.
“stop, your face looks ugly when you do that” finally, the door opened (scaring atsumu who was deep in thoughts). osamu didn't expect to get his brother oddly standing in front of the door with his face in a frown, almost like he was worried about something.
“ugh? when i do what?” atsumu asked, his face in a bigger frown than before.
“think, tsumu. it looks ugly on you” osamu answered without missing a beat, already expecting the outrage burst from his twin.
atsumu was ready to shout some curse at his brother when he got a glimpse of you inside the apartment. you were looking directly at him, your eyes squeezing in a failed attempt to see who was at your door. your mind was still a bit dizzy with the alcohol, but you were sure that the person some feet away from you was blond. 'why samu's twin is blond?' you though, trying to imagine your boyfriend with yellow hair.
on the other side, atsumu was stomping on his brother's foot while trying to get to you. excitement running through his veins, with the thought of finally meeting his sister-in-law. osamu hissed at the sudden pain in his big toe, but he let this slide because he didn't want to fight atsumu right in front of you. he stayed at the door, happy to just see the interaction happening between the two of you.
“hey pretty, happy to finally know you!” atsumu said, stretching his hand for you to shake. now he could see you perfectly fine and dawn, you were for sure beautiful. osamu had only shown a few pictures of you, but none of them made justice to how gorgeous you actually were. “hope you are treating samu right” he added, trying to fill the silence, because you were, in fact, not saying anything back.
osamu also noticed that you were speechless, and this was making him kind of worried. did you not like the way atsumu talked with you? should he step in? maybe you were just in shock because they really were twins?
osamu was right. you were in shock, but not because your boyfriend really has a twin, but because you had actually met atsumu before. honestly, you never thought you would see his face and his yellow-piss hair again. this was hilarious, and you were trying your best to not laugh.
“are you okay, baby? you look kind of constipated” osamu asked when he saw the frown on your face. 'how could you fuck up this bad?' he wondered, staring at his brother.
“did you date a girl named komi, like, two years ago? She had black hair and fangs” you ask suddenly, leaving both brothers confused. osamu was speechless, because why in the hell would you want to know who tsumu had dated before? and on the other hand, atsumu was worried. like, really worried. "you did, right?" you said, noticing that any of them would speak. even the alcohol had left your body, you were fully sober now.
atsumu swallowed hard. "maybe. why?" but you didn't answer. this was actually funny. the boy who dated one of your friends years ago was now standing right in front of you. he was so awkward around komi that you never forget him. osamu glanced at tsumu 'who is komi?' he silent asked.
"i know you!" you said, finally stopping your laugh. "well, at least from what komi used to say. and believe me, she surely just told me the bad things" now, this made osamu grin. hearing that a girl only said shit about his brother was definitely funny, but tsumu wasn't happy.
"what do you mean with that? i'm a good guy, i'm sure i was the best with her!" he tried to defend his honor, but seemed like you didn't believe in anything he was saying. "i always treat all women right!" he was really proud of his actions, even though he clearly didn't remember the girl you were talking about.
"wow. you're the greatest man i ever saw" osamu said, sarcasm filling his voice. he was invested in the story, he wanted to hear what you would say, and he would definitely use that against his twin in the future. "come on, baby, tell me more" you felt his arms hugging you from behind, and next his face was closer to yours, ready to hear every detail.
now, atsumu was the one who was looking constipated. sure, he knew that he had treated the girl with respect, his mama raised him right, but at the same time, this happened two years ago. and two years ago he was a different person, a different man. nowadays, he was good with the opposite gender, great even, some of his colleagues would say that he just had the charm. but two years ago, he had just finished high school, and well, he was still kind of a nerd (honestly, he used to be afraid of women).
"did you really use those shitty pickup lines? like, are you an angel be-" you were suddenly cut by something close to a scream.
"no need to remember the old times!" atsumu hushed to say, not wanting to let osamu get a taste of how he used to be around girls. otherwise, he wouldn't be able to live another peaceful day, but samu wasn't having any of that.
"shut up tsumu. let my girl talk" he said patting your head, encouraging you to continue "come on babe, feel free to say anything you like."
if you were in your right mind, you would probably stop talking, respecting the boundaries to just had met your brother-in-law. unfortunately for atsumu, you were tipsy, drunk even, and you couldn't keep your mouth shut.
you talked a lot. you said everything you remembered. by now, the three of you were sitting in the dinning room, enjoying the delicious meal osamu had prepared. and you were still talking. komi told you so many things about the 'hot but weird guy with an even more weird yellow hair' that she was dating, like the time when atsumu was holding her purse and accidentally forgot it on the table at the shopping, almost making your friend's heart stop.
"but i was the one who found it! so, +1 point for atsumu" the blond twin finally remembered who komi was, and now he was on the duty to prove that he was, in fact, a good date for her.
"you were also the one who lost it, so -2 points for atsumu" osamu was loving every moment of this. he could listen to your sweet voice talking, he was discovering shameful stories about atsumu, and even better, he was having a good time with people he loved.
"that's not fair, why i only gain 1 point for finding the bag, but i lost 2 just because i forgot it?" tsumu asked, not happy with the system of points.
you sighed. "for the last time, it's a purse! not just a bag" you said, pretending to be mad about it. now you understand why osamu liked to annoy atsumu so much, he just had the most funny and honest reactions.
"yeah, how could you not know the difference" samu agreed with you, looking at his twin with disgust "you should be ashamed of yourself".
"i can't believe! now you two are against me" he cried.
embarassement left atsumu a long time ago, he was actually having a good time remembering the things he used to do.
also, he was happy to see that you and osamu made a good pair. you seemed to shine whenever samu laughed at something you said, and well, his brother wasn't any different, when you were smiling, osamu was smiling. still, atsumu couldn't help but get a lit bit worried, because you were just a little shitty like samu, grinning and making stupid jokes. but that's okay, he could deal with this, even if he would have to be the target of the bully.
"great thing that you already met the real tsumu, baby. now he can't charm ya with his lies" osamu said, partially because he wanted to provoke his twin, but he was also relieved that you got to know tsumu's embarrassing side first, so you wouldn't fall for him and his stupid athlete fame. he would never admit this to anyone, but he was kind of worried that you would end up thinking that his brother was nicer than him, like other girls used to do.
you laughed at osamu's comment, getting closer to him "nah, this wouldn't happen, blondes are a big turn down for me" you said snuggling your boyfriend. "specially if they are going to lose my purse".
"come on, it was an honest mistake, can't a man be wrong once in his life?" atsumu almost screamed, getting up from the place he was sitting. he went to the kitchen, murmuring something about how everyone was always against him.
you and osamu were left alone, your head resting on his shoulder, while you softly laughed at your brother-in-law. at this point of the night, you weren't drunk anymore, the only thing last from the wine was its sweet taste on your tongue.
osamu kept looking at you, enjoying the comfortable silence. honestly, he kind of wanted to kiss you right now. maybe he would, he was at his home after all.
his hands went straight to your face, caressing your cheeks with the pad of his thumbs. you inclined your head towards him, and samu did the same, your lips almost touching.
"ew, don't do that right in front of me!" of course, tsumu had to ruin everything. "i'm like your son, you need caution when i'm around or else i'm going to be traumatized" osamu could feel a vein popping on his forehead when he saw the false innocent smile spreading on his twin's face.
"don't you have something else to do? like, go to your own house" samu said putting your head on his shoulder again, mad that he didn't get to kiss you.
atsumu wasn't worried or even bothered a bit by his brother's words. he pushed his chair closer to yours, sitting with his head on his hands. "actually, i'm kind of curious. can i ask you something?" he said, looking directly at you.
giving him a nod, you agree.
"you already knew me from your friend, how could you not tell that i'm your boyfriend's twin? like, he literally has my face" atsumu said, making you question yourself.
thinking, you came to the conclusion that you also did not know the answer to his question. "honestly, i guess that it just never clicked in my mind until i saw you in person. komi showed me a few pictures only, so i think that i forgot how your face was. your image was like, blurred in my mind" you justified, carefully thinking of your next words, but if the look on atsumu's face was any signal, you weren't making any sense at all.
"how could remember every mistake i made, but not remember my face? that is so offensive!" osamu rolled his eyes at his brother's dramatic ass.
'sorry, sorry' you kept repeating while atsumu was pretending to be hurt.
"you're ugly tsumu, no surprise that she would forget how you look. i think it's a kind of trauma response" of course, osamu had to provoke his twin a bit. he hugged you, putting his hands on top of your eyes, protecting you from atsumu's face.
"we literally share the same face, samu!"
"i do not look ugly like you, tsumu."
even though your vision was still black, covered by osamu's hands, you could picture the fight between the twins. the image in your mind made you laugh.
god, you loved them.
