Summary
For years after, he'd always have the same nightmare, where he fights and kicks and screams and needs to be held down as his mother walks through that gate. Sometimes he thinks, privately, that maybe it's not a nightmare after all. It's better than the reality where he stood there and watched silently, and did nothing at all.
