Chapter Text
Miss Mary Clarke.
I write to you upon my brother-in-law's recommendation, I believe you had worked for him over a year ago. Alan Jackson of Millicent Heights, he had not stopped talking of how great you had been to his children and I could only hope that you'd accept my offer. I'm in need of a governess for my son, he has been rather difficult the past two years and I'm quickly running out of hope. I will not lie in this letter, I have hired more than ten governesses in the past and each and every one of them has fled my home in tears and terror. I don't know what to do, I'd pay you handsomely for your time and help. Alan has spoken very highly of your education and your person, he won't stop recommending you to me and so I've decided to write to you. Should you accept the position I will assure that you have free reign about the house, your own room. Privacy and weekends off should you ask for it and your wages paid monthly. I'd be willing to pay twice the amount Alan had paid for your services, my son deserves good education and guidance. There is only so much I can do, the last couple of years have been difficult on him. His mother had passed away two winters prior, I would send him to a proper boy's school but I cannot part with him. I don't like the idea of sending my child off to an institute or a school regardless of it's good reputation and the level of education that it may offer. This is what brings me to you, I do hope you accept my offer. If you are already working and or would like to decline my offer, please do write to me.
Sincerely.
Sir Thomas Sharpe.
