Bang Chan:
Tries not to go into full dad mode because he knows you can handle yourself, but he also knows you and how you neglect yourself at times. He’s keeping a close eye on you either in person (which he prefers) or by texting and FaceTiming you throughout the day while he’s working. Always checking that you’re eating when you can, and that you’re drinking lots. He likes when you send him a text or photo every time you eat, just so he knows. He’ll bring home medicine and little presents to cheer you up.
Will do anything to help you be just a little bit more comfortable, from bringing cold cloths to rest on your forehead, to massaging your sore muscles, to just letting you lay with your head on his lap or chest while he plays with your hair and talks softly about anything and everything.
If you have trouble sleeping at night because of your illness he’ll hold you and sing to you softly, or he’ll tell you funny stories about things the members got up to that day, ideas for future music, or just his plans for the future in general. Once you finally fall asleep he lays beside you, watches your breathing and the little movements you make in your sleep, until he drifts off himself.
Lee Know:
Bullies you about getting sick in the first place while he gathers blankets, pillows, plushies, and anything else to make you a comfortable little nest in your bed. Whatever you had planned for the week is cancelled, and if someone has a problem with it they’re answering to him.
Food appears at your bedside regularly, with careful consideration to how you’re feeling. (He’s not feeding you something rich or heavy if you’re having tummy troubles, for example.) Even if all you can keep down is some plain toast and water, he’ll make sure you have it. If you’re able to eat somewhat normally and have a favorite/comfort food or drink, that will be making an appearance as well, and you already know that everything will be exactly how you like it.
He’ll swoop into your room, nagging about drinking enough, fluffing your pillows, throwing away the tissues strewn over your bed, and just generally fussing over you like your own nurse.
And still, for all his nagging and bullying, when it’s getting late and you’re coughing and achy and congested and miserable, he’ll be right beside you. Your favorite show is on the TV or his laptop. He’ll hold you close, voice hushed and gentle while he soothes you through it all, one hand rubbing circles against your back, the other holding your hand.
Changbin:
He makes a big show of babying you, but he’s actually pretty chill. Outwardly, at least. He checks up on you, brings you anything you want or need (even if you don’t ask for it, which surprises you sometimes), and makes himself available for cuddles as much as he possibly can.
On the inside, he’s a ball of anxiety. He smiles and jokes with you while his stomach is in knots worrying about your every cough or twinge of pain. He carefully brings you nutritious food to help you get better (+treats to cheer you up- like Felix’s brownies), meanwhile he’s too anxious to eat more than a few bites of anything.
Fortunately, you know him just as well as he knows you. So you encourage him to try some of the food he brings you. You ask what he’s having for breakfast, or lunch, or dinner, and check to make sure he really did have something. You offer him your leftovers when you’re full. When you start feeling a bit better he orders a pizza and you two share it in bed while you watch your favorite k-dramas.
Hyunjin:
When you get sick, he’s the first to know. Not because you’re together 24/7 or because you tell him first, he just always knows, even before you do. He’s an artist, he’s thoughtful, he’s observant, and you’re his favorite subject, so he’s highly attuned to your behaviors and habits. When you start acting even a tiny bit different, he notices, even if he can’t exactly put his finger on it at first. It’s happened enough times now that when he gets that ‘something’s off’ feeling, he knows what it means.
‘Are you feeling alright?’
‘Yeah, I’m fine. Just a little tired-‘
‘HMMM.’
Fortunately he’s not the kind to say ‘I told you so’ when you eventually do find yourself shivering and feverish, wrapped up in blankets on the couch. He just wipes down everything in the house because not today, germs, and brings you tea. If he’s able to he stays and keeps you company on the couch, wearing a mask because like he loves you but he doesn’t need to get sick.
Actually, you being sick is one of the few things that gets him to slow down and relax a bit. He cancels what he can from his busy schedule and you two camp out on the couch together. Watching & rewatching your favorite shows, eating takeout from your favorite places, sitting on opposite ends of the couch scrolling through your social media feeds and sharing things that make you laugh. But Hyunjin’s favorite is taking long naps with you, keeping you tucked between him and the back of the couch so he feels like he’s protecting you somehow, even though he can’t exactly protect you from being sick.
Han:
He’s devastated when he finds out you’re not feeling well. When he sees you and sees the miserable look in your eyes (even though you smile when you see him), and hears you struggling to push a raspy voice through a sore throat, he could cry.
He wants to make sure you’re absolutely as comfortable as you can be, so he fusses over your blankets, your pillows, the temperature of the room, the lights, the volume of the tv, and on and on and on.
Eventually you call to him with your sad, shaky voice, and he’s by your side in a moment, ready to attend to any need.
‘Cuddle with me?’
Tucked in behind you on the couch with his arms around you keeping your back snugly against his chest, he’s finally beginning to calm down. He can hear and feel your slow, steady breathing, and without him even realizing it his own breathing slows to match yours. He relaxes into the blankets and into you, all the nervous energy he’d built up slowly draining away.
The rest of the time you’re recovering, he’s there with you. But he’s calmer now, waiting for you to ask him for something instead of rushing about trying to predict your every need. He still worries, of course, watching you with big sad eyes whenever you can’t stop coughing, or when your head hurts so bad you can’t stand any noise, or when you’re too nauseous to eat. But you just hold his hand and give it a little squeeze, and he remembers that you’re going to be okay, because he’s here to take care of you.
Felix:
Like Han, he’s visibly heartbroken to learn that you’re sick. When he arrives to see you he looks like he’s the sick one, with the slumped way he’s standing and the sadness in his eyes.
You hold out your arms to him and he flops down in bed with you, rolling onto his side and pulling you close so your head is resting against his chest.
‘I’m so, so sorry you’re sick.’
‘It’s not your fault, Lix.’
‘I know. But I’m still sorry.’
The depth of his concern and care is almost overwhelming. He treats you like something fragile and precious, attending to your every need with his whole heart. He makes you smile even when you’re otherwise miserable. He sits on the bed and plays card games, board games, and video games with you. He reads to you when you can’t sleep, even doing different voices for each character.
He will be bringing over some of his hoodies for you to wear. Sure you have your own, but his are warmer (he says), and comfier (he insists). Really it just makes him feel like he’s taking good care of you, and they are really comfy, so you don’t argue.
Seungmin:
He puts together a care package for you, featuring your favorite snacks/drinks, cold medicine, a brand new fluffy blanket, and little gifts related to your hobbies/interests, topped off with a very sweet note.
When he brings it over, he blushes bright red the entire time you’re reading the note and unpacking the box.
He leaves it up to you if he should stay with you or let you have your space. He assures you he’s okay with either option, but if he leaves then he’ll be texting to check in now and then.
Of course you want this sweet puppy to stay.
He doesn’t really treat you much differently than when you’re healthy, besides insisting on getting things for you so you don’t have to get up. He teases you, makes you laugh, throws pillows at you when you tease him back, and says ‘you’d better not get me sick’ every time you come near him.
When you get tired, he pulls you down on top of him on the couch and tugs the blanket over you both. You fall asleep with your head on his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
Jeongin:
He wants to believe you know what you need and that you’ll take care of yourself, even when he arrives to pick you up and you’re passed out on the couch despite answering his ‘on my way’ text not five minutes before. You look paler than normal, and your skin is strangely warm to the touch when he gently wakes you up.
You get up, insisting you’re fine, you just needed to close your eyes for a few minutes.
He almost believes you, until you’re both standing in line at the new ramen place you’ve been wanting to try together and you’re leaning against him literally falling asleep standing up. So he orders your food to go, and he brings you back home.
Unlike some of his hyungs, Jeongin doesn’t tell you to do anything, or harass, or nag you. He just sort of…makes suggestions, with such a soft expression on his face you can’t possibly turn him down. When he passes you your drink even when you didn’t ask for it, you drink. If he offers you a bite of his food, you take it. And each time your reward is his sweet little smile.
After eating he encourages you to lay down again, resting your head on his lap, while he spreads the blanket out over you. He plays with your hair and you fall asleep again almost immediately, and as soon as you’re out he’s frantically texting the other members for advice on the best way to take care of you.
