   Summary

   This fic takes place in an alternate reality where the events of Chapter 3 went a little bit differently. Instead of defeating Astaroth by himself, John is fatally injured by the demon before he could even enter the Crucible. John, his faith in himself shattered completely, is taken in by Father Garcia, and the two fight together to end the Eternal Order of the Second Death once and for all. And as they do, John finds himself catching feelings for the older priest. The two end up not only battling the forces of hell, but also confronting John's inner demons.
